PROTECT 2025 Conference to address “unconventional” business threats

Business leaders will confront evolving global security risks at the PROTECT 2025 conference on “Doing Business Amidst New Threats”on March 14 at the New World Makati Hotel.

While 2024’s security landscape was described as “unprecedented,” 2025 brings “unconventional” challenges through geopolitical tensions, gray zone warfare, AI arms race, insider threats and fragmented extremism.

National Security Adviser Eduardo Año will deliver the opening address, with Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. presenting the keynote.

The conference features specialized sessions addressing critical business concerns. Three panel discussions will explore digital identity, cyber threats and legal aspects of cybercrime, examining how advanced technologies challenge cybersecurity and require strategic adaptation.

Dr. Kenneth Hartigan-Go will moderate discussions on human health security, while environmental sessions will address how climate issues impact business practices from resources to customer behavior.

Global Security Expert Prof. Rohan Gunaratna of Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University will present on the crime-terror nexus during a session on transnational issues and cross-border phenomena.

The conference will close with discussions on national security challenges, including state-sponsored cyber threats and Philippines’ relations with the U.S. and China.
