#tACboForACause: Ayala kicks off 190th year with a meaningful, inclusive run

To jumpstart its 190th anniversary celebration, Ayala Corporation (AC) welcomes 2024 with tACbo, a run for the benefit of Ayala Foundation’s education programs.

tACbo is happening on January 14 at Ayala Triangle Gardens. Net proceeds of this event will support Ayala Foundation’s education programs, including The Center of Excellence in Public Elementary Education (CENTEX), which provides holistic, quality education for bright children from poor families.

Around 6,000 runners from diverse backgrounds are expected to join the tACbo. Runners can sign up for any of the categories: 21K, 10K, 5K, 3K, 1K. Runners and their beloved dogs can also participate in a special 1K run.

Meanwhile, Ayala Multi-Purpose Cooperative is also sponsoring select PNP cadettes, persons with disabilities, and child runners to join tACbo. Ayala Foundation will also invite child runners from CENTEX schools in Manila and Batangas to join tACbo.

Established in 1998, CENTEX was designed to break the cycle of poverty in some of the most vulnerable communities in the country. It focuses on the essentials for lifelong learning, including classroom pedagogy, development of critical thinking skills, values clarification, and use of technology in the classroom. It promotes collaboration among teachers, parents, and other family members in honing students’ confidence and competencies not just inside the classroom but also through after-hours learning.

CENTEX also holds teacher training initiatives that promote student development and community engagement. Present in 19 locations, CENTEX, through its Training Institute, has trained and mentored 10,644 public school teachers since 2011.

Aboitiz Foundation empowers women with techvoc programs

BCPD’s Vocational Technical Educational Assistance Program spearheads this transformative journey, dedicated to shaping a new generation of responsive young women attuned to the evolving needs of the service industry. Through a concerted effort involving education, skills training, and economic opportunities, this initiative not only accelerates the nation’s recovery but also lays a strong foundation for long-term stability.

Among the educational tracks is the BCPD’s Hotel and Restaurant Services Program which provides a comprehensive platform, concentrating on essential programs such as Food and Beverage Services, Cookery, Bread and Pastry Production, and Housekeeping. These courses go beyond theoretical knowledge, offering practical skills that directly align with real-world demands.

The Aboitiz Foundation is significantly expanding its support by sponsoring a total of 20 scholars in the Hotel and Restaurant Services program–10 in HRIS 1 and an additional 10 in HRIS 2.

Through the techvoc program, the Aboitiz Foundation is committed to contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 5, specifically focusing on quality education and gender equality. Since establishing a partnership with BCPD in 2005, the Aboitiz Foundation has supported over 300 students, boasting an employment rate exceeding 83%. Of these graduates, 80% have successfully secured positions in the thriving hotel and restaurant sectors, while the remaining 20% have embarked on the entrepreneurial path, establishing their own micro-enterprises.
