Pioneer Insurance kicked off its 70th anniversary celebration, reaffirming its dedication to innovation and service for Filipinos.

The company remains committed to developing relevant products, setting global standards in inclusive insurance, training future leaders, creating resilient communities, and building eco-friendly spaces.

As part of its 70th anniversary, Pioneer launched its Milestones and Achievements Exhibit at Pioneer House Makati. Group Head Lorenzo Chan Jr. led the opening with a Lighting Ceremony, joined by committee members Betty Medialdea, Earl Ferrer, Ernesto Chan, and Molly Uyecio.

Chan told employees, “We created this exhibit to honor those who came before us and inspire you to think about what you can do for future generations.”

Founded in 1954 in Binondo, Manila, Pioneer started with a staff of five and initial leaders Johnny Cheng, Lorenzo Chan Toh, and Yang Pao Wang.

Pioneer has covered significant events, including the 1975 Thrilla in Manila boxing match. For over three decades, it has insured national athletes, coaches, and trainers for major sports events.

In 2007, PULP Magazine named Pioneer the country’s live events insurer, covering major concerts like One Direction, Madonna, Coldplay, Celine Dion, and Blackpink.

Pioneer has been recognized for market leadership by the Euromoney Annual Global Insurance Survey and the Insurance Commission for its microinsurance contributions, now totaling nearly 24 million enrollments.

The company upheld its commitment during crises, paying significant claims for Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, Typhoon Odette in 2021, and COVID-19-related claims from 2020-2022.

According to the latest Insurance Commission report, Pioneer ranks highly in various insurance sectors, including Aviation, Marine Hull, Microinsurance, Special Risks, Casualty, Fire, Crime Insurance, and Marine Cargo.

The exhibit showcases these achievements and more, part of a year-long celebration including the social media series Pioneer Kwentong Malasakit, which honors the company’s stakeholders.

“Pioneer is at a pivotal point. We strive to build on past achievements and make every moment count for those we serve,” Chan concluded.
