Petron Corporation, the country’s largest oil refining and marketing company, is the official fuel partner of the 2025 DOE-Petron Fuel EcoRun on 24 September 2025 at the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

The DOE-led EcoRun will feature close to 70 participating vehicles—including internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEV)—showcasing fuel economy performance under real-world driving conditions.

All ICE and hybrid participants will use Petron XCS and Petron Turbo Diesel, Petron’s benchmark fuels:

  • Petron XCS (95-octane premium gasoline): Features Tri-Activ Technology for maximum power and mileage while protecting engines through superior detergent additives that prevent harmful deposits.
  • Petron Turbo Diesel: Delivers stronger pulling power, restores performance, protects CRDi components, and reduces emissions through advanced additive systems.

“By powering this EcoRun with our best-in-class fuels, we demonstrate that efficiency begins at the pump,” said Mr. Lubin B. Nepomuceno, General Manager of Petron Corporation. “Petron XCS and Petron Turbo Diesel are trusted by millions of Filipino motorists every day because they deliver real performance and real savings.”

The event covers approximately 156 kilometers from Petron TPLEX Northbound to Rosario, La Union, returning to Petron TPLEX Southbound.

This demonstration—not competition—tests how different vehicle technologies perform under actual expressway conditions. Petron’s standardized fuel supply ensures fairness and credibility in results.

Building on successful DOE EcoRuns in 2016 and 2017, this event promotes fuel-efficient driving awareness and generates critical performance data.

“Petron is proud to have been DOE’s partner in past EcoRuns and continues to champion this advocacy,” added Mr. Nepomuceno. “By promoting energy efficiency, we are not only helping motorists save on fuel costs but also contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building a more sustainable transport sector.”
