SM Cares launched Pedal Power on June 1, celebrating World Bicycle Day across 26 malls nationwide in collaboration with bike groups from Luzon to Mindanao. The purpose-driven event united bikers in a collective mission to pedal for the planet.
Community engagement and sustainable mobility
Pedal Power brought together riders of all ages for active living and sustainable transport advocacy. Highlights included the Community Bike Ride & Loop promoting inclusive participation and safer, greener mobility. Cyclists participated in hands-on Bike Safety Clinics featuring safety demonstrations, basic repairs, maintenance tips, and tune-up services. Young riders joined the Kiddie Trail Bike Clinic for confidence-building and safe biking practices training.
Pedaling with purpose: Community impact

Beyond rides, bikers engaged in meaningful community efforts—coastal cleanups in SM City Bataan and SM City Roxas, food distribution in SM City Bacolod, and tree-planting drives in SM malls across Marikina, Masinag, Antipolo, and San Mateo. These post-ride activities reinforced the event’s commitment to sustainability and community care.
“This initiative shows that sustainability can be integrated into everyday actions. We wanted this to be more than a celebration of biking—we wanted it to be a celebration of responsible action,” said Mr. Joaquin L. San Agustin, SM Supermalls Executive Vice President for Marketing.
Riding together, moving forward
Pedal Power’s strength lies in partnerships with bike clubs, LGUs, volunteers, and citizens sharing the road toward sustainability. The initiative supports UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.
Through bike-friendly facilities nationwide, environmental education, and community partnerships, SM Cares continues promoting sustainable lifestyles. Pedal Power 2025 proved simple rides can create extraordinary change—this movement is just getting started.
