NutriAsia wins big at the 2021 Stevie Awards
NutriAsia won big at the 18th International Business Awards, raking in three Stevie Awards for exemplary initiatives.
The company won two Gold Stevie Awards and one Bronze Stevie Award, to be given at a virtual ceremony on December 8 this year. NutriAsia’s Gold Stevie Awards haul were for its Bring Your Own Bote (BYOB) initiative and Locally Superfruits.
BYOB won the Gold Stevie Award for Environmental Campaign of the Year for allowing consumers to participate and contribute to a sustainable zero-waste system. BYOB allows consumers to purchase or refill their favorite NutriAsia products with reusable containers in various stores located around Metro Manila, minimizing the amount of single-use plastic waste. Judges lauded the promotion of refilling of condiments. rather than using sachets.
Locally Superfruits won the Gold Stevie Award for Marketing Campaign of the Year by providing Filipino consumers with locally sourced nutrient-dense and vitamin-filled fruit juices to address the health need in time of the pandemic.

Mining companies’ awards highlight job security
Hinatuan Mining Corp. (HMC) and Taganito Mining Corp. (TMC), are Regional Winners in the 2021 Search for Outstanding Labor-Management Cooperation Program and are now contenders for the National LMC Competition. The awardees will be announced on December 2021.
The award is given by the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) for Outstanding Labor-Management Cooperation (LMC) and Grievance Machinery (GM) for Industrial Peace, in the Regional level.
NCMB honors HMC and TMC, subsidiaries of Nickel Asia Corp. (NAC), for exemplary dedication, support and determination in sustaining harmonious labor-management relations in the workplace.
Policarpo O. Asilo, President of Hinatuan Mining Labor Union-National Federation of Labor Unions-Kilusang Mayo Uno (HIMLU-NAFLU-KMU), shares the excellent relationship HMC has with its Labor Union.
Pedro D. Urbiztondo, TMC Labor Union president, says the award is “proof of the unity and harmony between management and labor union.”
With the theme — “Responsiveness and Resilience in Times of Disruption”, the 2021 Search for Outstanding LMC is a special edition recognizing organizations that have remained focused and true to the very essence of cooperation and partnership, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cebu Pacific brings home 338 Filipinos
Cebu Pacific has brought home 338 Filipinos from Dubai, in response to the government’s call to repatriate stranded overseas Filipinos in the Middle East who needed to come home while the travel ban is still in place.
The sixth CEB-arranged special commercial or Bayanihan flight was mounted in coordination with the Philippine government’s special working group. The government instituted a travel ban to the UAE in May.
Aside from meal and baggage allowance upgrades, passengers on this flight received a gift pack from Universal Robina Corporation (URC).
Passengers must comply with strict guidelines, including RT-PCR test taken 48 hours before departure with negative result; and a 15-day/14-night quarantine stay in a pre-booked, accredited facility upon arrival. Another swab test will be taken seven (7) days after arrival.
The cost of quarantine accommodation and testing for land-based overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are shouldered by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA); while the Philippine Port Authority covered the cost for sea-based OFWs.
Non-OFW returning citizens must arrange and pay for their quarantine accommodations and testing.

MetaMask hits 10M users, Filipinos lead the way
ConsenSys, the market-leading blockchain technology company founded by Ethereum co-creator Joseph Lubin, announced that MetaMask now has more than 10 million monthly active users, with nearly 20 percent coming from the Philippines.
The cryptocurrency wallet has emerged as the top choice for storing digital assets, particularly those earned from online gaming. The new numbers on MetaMask’s user base represents a 19x growth compared to July 2020, and positions MetaMask as the leading non-custodial wallet by users globally. MetaMask is both a mobile app and browser extension that functions as a cryptocurrency wallet for interacting with the Ethereum blockchain and any Ethereum-compatible network like Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism.
