Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC), a leading natural resource development firm, achieved significant recognition at the 2024 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Awards (PMIEA) held on November 22, 2024, at the CAP Convention Center in Baguio City. The company secured a total of 11 awards, underscoring its commitment to responsible mining practices.
NAC’s subsidiaries, including Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC), Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC), and Cagdianao Mining Corporation (CMC), received the prestigious Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award. This award represents the highest honor bestowed by the President of the Philippines on mining companies that excel in safety and health, environmental protection, social development, and corporate social responsibility.
CMC, located in Dinagat Islands, Surigao, earned the Best Mining Forest award in the Metallic Category, highlighting its dedication to land use values that meet or exceed those prior to mining operations. TMC also performed admirably, achieving 2nd Runner-up in the same category.
Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC), based in Bataraza, Palawan, was awarded the Platinum Achievement Award in the Surface Mining Operation Category. Additionally, Dinapigue Mining Corporation (DMC) from Dinapigue, Isabela, received the Titanium Achievement Award in the Surface Mining Category for two consecutive years and was recognized for Most Improved Safety Performance.
In the Best Personalities Category, several individuals were honored: April Joy Delola from CMC was named Best Mine/Plant Supervisor; Jennifer Q. Inting from HMC received the Best Miner/Operator award; and Grace D. Milan from RTN was recognized as Best Safety Inspector in the Surface Category.
