NAC Foundation Inc. (NACFI), the philanthropic arm of Nickel Asia Corp., has signed a memorandum of understanding with St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation, Inc. (SLMCFI).
This agreement includes the provision of a LigaSure surgical device, which employs advanced technology to seal blood vessels using electrical currents, valued at P1.5 million for an upcoming joint medical mission in Borongan, Eastern Samar.
“This particular machine cuts operating time by a third, because there’s no need for suturing; much of it is cut and sealed. You can perform more surgeries, and the healing time is also reduced, allowing for an increased number of procedures,” said Dr. Benjamin Campomanes Jr., president of St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation.
The upcoming medical and surgical missions, starting in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, are part of the collaboration between NACFI and SLMCFI. This initiative aims to provide quality healthcare to remote areas of the Philippines.
“On behalf of the province of Eastern Samar, I would like to thank the NAC family and the St. Luke’s family for this opportunity to provide our people with much-needed medical services. We are grateful and fully support this initiative,” said Eastern Samar governor Ben Evardone.
Following the mission in Borongan City, NAC will extend its medical and surgical missions to its operational areas in Surigao and Palawan.
“Our partnership with St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation underscores our commitment to contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being, particularly in underserved areas,” said NAC president and chief executive officer Martin Antonio Zamora.
