In its efforts to provide relief to its clientele, the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) has announced the implementation of a one-month moratorium on the monthly amortization payments for housing loan borrowers affected by Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

In accordance with the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, NHMFC President Renato Tobias issued Corporate Circular No. 093 on July 26, 2024, ordering the Collection and Accounts Management Group to determine housing loan borrowers whose properties are located in cities or municipalities that have been placed under a state of calamity.

Borrowers from the typhoon-affected areas are automatically qualified for the moratorium, subject to NHMFC’s internal rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, borrowers who choose to settle their amortizations while their account is under moratorium may still do so through NHMFC offices, collection partners, the online payment facility on the NHMFC website, or via the GCash or Maya apps.
