Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) showcased its commitment to communications excellence at the 60th Anvil Awards, winning ten Silver Anvils. The company was also a finalist for Company of the Year, recognizing its outstanding initiatives in public service, employee engagement, corporate social responsibility, and digital transformation.
Meralco’s award-winning campaigns included “Goodbye, Spaghetti Wires: The Meralco Anti-Urban Blight Program,” which addresses urban blight and enhances public safety. Another notable initiative, “With Great Power Comes Great Reliability,” focused on energy security during the summer and typhoon seasons.
“These awards affirm our relentless pursuit of strategic communications that resonate with our stakeholders,” said Joe R. Zaldarriaga, Meralco’s Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications. “They reflect our leaders’ commitment to empowering our employees to go above and beyond in delivering meaningful initiatives.”
Meralco also received accolades for its digital communication efforts with “Shaping Future-Ready Communications: Meralco Newsroom’s Leap Into Digital Excellence.” The digital documentary “Empowering Women in Energy: Suzette Castro’s Journey” highlighted the inspiring story of a female line crew member navigating motherhood and her career in a male-dominated field.
Additionally, programs promoting inclusivity, such as “Empowerment Through Sports: A Soft Tennis Clinic for People with Disabilities,” were recognized for fostering acceptance among persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Meralco’s training programs – ‘Strengthening Workforce Knowledge and Values through the Meralco Way Training Program’ and ‘Forging the Future of Engineering: The Meralco Cadet Engineering Program,’ emphasize the company’s commitment to employee development.
One Meralco Foundation, the company’s corporate social development arm, secured two Silver Anvils for its “Household Electrification Program” and “Electrification for Development: Improving Agriculture in Mindanao.”
The Anvil Awards, organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), honor excellence in public relations across various sectors.
