Megaworld Hotels and Resorts raise Filipino brand of service excellence

Aiming to continuously elevate guest service experience and recovery, the Department of Tourism, conducted the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Training program simultaneously across Megaworld Hotels and Resorts’ (MHR) 6 brands and 12 property locations across the Philippines all in one day.

A total number of about 400 associates finished modules covering Service Excellence and the 7Ms of Filipino Values, Delivering Excellent Service using the GUEST Techniques, and the HEART of Service Recovery.

Participating hotels included Savoy Hotel and Belmont Hotel in Newport Pasay Manila, Kingsford Hotel at the Entertainment City of Paranaque, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Quezon City, Richmonde Hotel Ortigas in Pasig, Hotel Lucky Chinatown in Binondo and Twin Lakes Hotel near Tagaytay. Cebu based properties who also joined in were Savoy Hotel and Belmont Hotel in Mactan Newtown. In the Panay region were Boracay properties like Savoy Hotel and Belmont Hotel at the Boracay Newcoast and Richmonde Hotel Iloilo located at the Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao.

Accredited trainers from DOT Metro Manila were Gil Regondola, Maria Susanna F. Edilo, Lax Junnel Mendoza with the supportive presence of Regional Director Sharlene Batin. Cebu properties were handled by Dr. Evelyn Lupango under the leadersship of Regional Director Shahlimar Hofer Tamano. While Dr. Mae Panes and Boracay properties by Bryan John Dizon conducted trainings for Western Visayas properties under the leadership of RD Crisanta “Krisma” Rodriguez.

Having the same mindset, the Department of Tourism aims to reach the goal of achieving 100,000-trained tourism service providers in the country in 2023.

Sun Life exec recognized as among most influential in SEA

Sun Life Philippines’ Chief Human Resources Officer Michelle Cordero-Garcia has been recognized as one of the 100 most influential HR leaders in Southeast Asia by leading media platform The Economic Times-HR World (ETHRWorld) in its first ever HR Icons list.

According to ETHRWorld, the list aims to celebrate the remarkable HR initiatives over the years and gain perspectives on the HR vision for 2023. Cordero-Garcia is one of only nine HR executives from the Philippines to make it to the list.

“I am honored to be recognized alongside some of the region’s most outstanding HR executives. I thank ETHRWorld for this honor,” Cordero-Garcia said. “This will surely inspire my journey as a people leader, especially as I embrace the great opportunity of our vocation, which is to influence and engage our people with empathy while enabling our organization to be future-ready.”

Cordero-Garcia joined Sun Life in August 2022. Barely a year into the role, she has already marked significant achievements as she led Sun Life’s culture-building programs and helped the company navigate through calamities, changing work landscapes, and other challenges brought on by the continuing pandemic in the past year. With over 25 years of experience in Human Resources, Cordero-Garcia is considered a thought leader in the profession and is also a sought-after speaker. She has previously served as National President of the People Management Association of the Philippines and has been on its Board for many years now. She is likewise a member of the Society of Human Resources Management and was a member and tower lead of the HR Council for the Contact Center Association of the Philippines from 2021 to 2022.

NHMFC warns public against “fixers”

The National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) warns the public againsttransacting with “fixers’ who offer assistance to illegally facilitate their transactions at NHMFC.

NHMFC recently received reports that some persons, groups, or organizations have been, without the corporation’s consent and/or prior authority or knowledge, illegally representing NHMFC in order to exact payments from NHMFC housing loan borrowers, buyers or clients.

NHMFC President Renato L. Tobias said that the corporation does not authorize any person or entity to negotiate for and in behalf of the corporation. He said that such act is strictly prohibited under R.A. No. 11032 otherwise known as the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018”.

“The public is forewarned not to entertain or seek the services of any person, group or organization relative to any transaction with NHMFC,” President Tobias stressed. He further advised all NHMFC clients to only transact with authorized NHMFC collection and counselling staff or employees directly in the NHMFC offices located in Makati City (head office), or its One-Stop Shop at DHSUD Building in Quezon City, various satellite and regional offices. And accredited collection partners.

New LWUA chief

 

Newly-appointed chief of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), Atty. Administrator Revil assumed office in early February as Acting Administrator, and will now take the lead in water and sanitation improvement in the countryside.  The two heads also briefly discussed water infrastructure projects in the pipeline for cities and towns outside Metro Manila.
