McDonald’s joins Brigada Eskwela
McDonald’s employee-volunteers distribute Burger McDo to educators, volunteers, parents and guardians who participated in the program.
McDonald’s Philippines through its charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities, once again extends its support to schools for the annual Brigada Eskwela.
Led by the Department of Education (DepEd), Brigada Eskwela gathers volunteers from both the private and public sector every year to help prepare public elementary and secondary schools for the upcoming school year. Since 2015, McDonald’s and RMHC have been providing meals, cleaning materials, and Ronald McDonald Read-to-Learn kits to partner schools.
This year, the company distributed over 20,000 Burger McDo to educators and volunteers, while 1,000 Happy Meal toys and 20 sets of Read-To-Learn kits were provided to elementary schools. These kits are part of RMHC’s Read-To-Learn program, a program in partnership with DepEd for Grade 1 and Grade 2 learners in public schools.
The company also allocated streamers, welcome banners, and safety signages to over 4,000 schools, to help ensure that government-mandated COVID-19 protocols are still being followed as face-to-face classes resume.
Meralco Group bags 22 at Quill Awards
The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) emerged as one of the top companies at the recently concluded 19th Philippine Quill Awards after the power distributor bagged 22 wins and the Company of the Year 1st Runner-up award.
Recognized for its internal and external communication programs, the Meralco Group won eight Excellence Awards and 14 Merit Awards for various programs and initiatives on pandemic response centered on health and safety, customer-centricity, service excellence and stakeholder engagement.

Globe IT modernization
Globe has embarked on a major IT modernization effort meant to reduce service outages, recently passing a significant milestone on billing system infrastructure refresh, and with succeeding phases of platform upgrades still to come.
With a P4.1-billion total investment to date, this multi-year effort is meant to improve user access to various company products and services by addressing glitches that customers encounter, such as issues in loading and registering for promos, to benefit an estimated 87.4 million mobile customers.
The IT modernization runs parallel to Globe’s network modernization program, which involves upgrading cell sites to 4G/LTE and ramping up fiberization of Filipino homes.
With both IT platforms and its network enhanced, Globe aims to provide best-in-class service and connectivity for its over 92 million mobile, broadband and fixed line voice customers.
AXA partners with Cropital
AXA Philippines has partnered with Cropital, a financing and marketing platform for smallholder farmers, to promote inclusive protection and financial literacy.
Through this partnership, AXA Philippines has committed to donate a minimum of P100,000 to Cropital’s Sustainability Fund, which can provide loan access and capital to farmers from Cropital’s partner communities.
AXA Philippines will also be conducting a financial literacy and savings program for more long-term benefits for the partner farmers.
Aside from its donation to the Sustainability Fund, AXA Philippines will also be encouraging its employees to help raise funds by giving them the option to convert their rice allowance benefit and use it to purchase rice from Cropital.

DHL Rewards Program
DHL Express has launched a new promotion under its DHL Rewards Program to give loyal customers in the Philippines a chance to redeem shipping credits and exclusive discounts on their next DHL Express shipment.
A customer who ships through any DHL Express ServicePoint nationwide is eligible for DHL Rewards. No registration is needed, and a customer automatically earns miles on the first shipment.
For Gold members (0 to 49,990 miles), every P100 paid is equal to 100 miles or P5 off on the next visit. Accumulated miles can be used as a shipping rebate until the member reaches 50,000 miles or Platinum level. For Platinum members (50,000 to 99,999 miles), a discount of 10 percent is given on the next shipment, while Diamond members (100,000 miles and up) get a 15 percent discount.
The promotion period is until December 31.

UPS enhances services
UPS has introduced new service enhancements in the Philippines to boost international trade prospects for many of the country’s small and medium-sized businesses (SMB).
The enhancement sees pickup times for export shipments and customer service bookings from the National Capital Region (NCR), Laguna and Batangas extended by up to one hour.
Coverage of UPS’s Worldwide Express Freight (WWEF) service — a guaranteed door-to-door express freight service which delivers heavy, palletized shipments to destinations worldwide in as little as one business day — has also been expanded to 129 more postal codes in the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, Laguna, Tarlac and Zambales.

Union Bank of the Philippines recently took home two institutional awards at the 2022 Retail Banking Awards organized by Asian Banking & Finance (ABF).
