700th store

McDonald’s Philippines master franchise holder and owner Dr. George  Yang, president and CEO Kenneth  Yang, Ronald McDonald House Charities ambassador Cindy Yang, and Santa Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas officially opened McDonald’s 700th store in the country last December 23.

McDonald’s Philippines celebrates another milestone of the Golden Arches in the country with the opening of its 700th McDonald’s Store in Nuvali–its fifth flagship Green & Good store in the Philippines.

McDonald’s Green & Good initiative is the company’s commitment to do better for the environment by equipping its restaurants with sustainable restaurant innovations using green building and utility-efficient solutions like solar rooftops and lampposts, grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, a rainwater harvesting tank, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) Aircon System, among others, that help in the reduction of emissions.

McDonald’s newest Green & Good store in Laguna also has bike-friendly features that include a Bike & Dine facility and a dedicated Bike Repair Station to cater to the needs of the growing cycling community of Nuvali–Ayala Land’s largest eco-estate and one of the country’s premier biking destinations.

“McDonald’s newest Green & Good store in Nuvali is another step in strengthening our commitment to environmental sustainability. Our goal is to continue to test and learn alternative solutions in how we operate our restaurants. With every Green & Good store that we open, we can determine and integrate better green building and utility-efficient solutions in more of the restaurants that we will open in the coming years,” said Kenneth Yang, president and chief executive officer of McDonald’s Philippines.

McDonald’s Philippines ended 2022 with 45 new stores in different areas across the country.

DBP bags regional award for energy efficiency program

State-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) was recognized by an international association of development banks and financial institutions for its efforts to promote energy efficiency in the country, a top official said.

DBP president and chief executive officer Emmanuel G. Herbosa said that the Bank’s Energy Efficiency Savings Financing Program (E2SAVE) was awarded a Plaque of Merit under the Environmental Development category of the annual Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) Development Awards held in Pasay City.

“This recognition from the ADFIAP is an attestation of the Bank’s continuing efforts for the unimpeded delivery of financial services to further drive economic growth,” Herbosa said.

DBP is the eighth largest bank in the country in terms of assets and provides credit support to four strategic sectors of the economy — infrastructure and logistics; micro, small and medium enterprises; environment; social services and community development.

The DBP E2SAVE Program is designed to help public and private institutions improve their productivity by harnessing available new technologies in the market for their energy efficiency and renewable energy (for own use) projects. It also allows loan repayment based on electricity savings to make investment affordable to end-users.

The ADFIAP Development Awards is an annual program that honors member institutions that have undertaken or assisted projects that created a development impact in categories such as environment, small and medium enterprises, infrastructure, technology, trade, local economy, corporate governance, and corporate social responsibility.

In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, half of the fund was distributed to the most affected families of farmers and fishermen, as well as communities displaced by the landslides and flooding in Panay Island, Kalinga, and Quezon Province.

The new numberless UNO Debit Mastercard offers a safe, secure, and sustainable banking experience for cardholders in the Philippines.

A first in the Philippines, the numberless UNO Debit Mastercard has been designed to address security concerns for online and offline payments. The card is eco-friendly as it is manufactured from recyclable plastic and is composed of 85.5% PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic.
