Teleperformance among the best in IT-BPM
Teleperformance (TP) in the Philippines made it to the top of the country’s first industry list of the Philippines Best Workplacesâ„¢ in information technology and business process management (IT-BPM).
The high-profile list, curated by the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and Great Place to Work®, recognizes people-first companies catering to and excelling in different sub-sectors, such as, but not limited to, business process outsourcing (BPO) and information technology (IT) & software development. The company must also be certified as a Great Place to Work® to be eligible for the recognition.
Out of the thirty exceptional employers in the list, Teleperformance placed fourth. The company’s nomination and subsequent victory in the IT-BPM category were also possible by Teleperformance’s certification as a Great Place to Work® for six straight years.
According to TP’s Great Place to Work® certification, 89% of employees confirmed that they are equipped with ample resources at work to execute their jobs, while another 85% expressed their satisfaction with the training they have been receiving from Teleperformance.
PLDT bolsters alignment with CDP on global climate reporting standards
The Philippines’ leading integrated telecommunications company PLDT Inc. (PLDT) continues to strengthen its alignment with global standards for climate action as it benchmarks with the 2023 disclosure system of the CDP.
Previously known as the “Carbon Disclosure Project” and recognized globally by investors, cities, and corporates, CDP provides guidance on climate-focused reporting metrics and facilitates an independent scoring on progress in terms of governance, risk management, target and performance, and emissions data, among others.
For its 2022 CDP assessment, PLDT received a “B” or a “Management” rating, signifying that the company has measures in place to manage its business impact to the environment. This was a significant improvement from its “C” or “Awareness” rating in 2021 and 2020 consecutively. Results of the 2023 CDP assessment are expected to be released by 2024.
PLDT’s environmental management measures include a decarbonization roadmap that targets Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction by 40% by 2030, from a 2019 baseline. This target is underpinned by the company’s expansion of renewable energy use, operational eco-efficiency measures, and green technology adoption for its network and data center rollout.
The company also integrated climate expertise into the composition of its Board of Directors with the recent appointment of Fr. Roberto C. Yap, S.J. as a member of its Advisory Committee. Yap, S.J. holds a PhD in Environmental Economics from University College London.
TypeKita, the newbie-friendly platform for Pinoy writers and readers
TypeKita is a newly launched app that aims to empower young Filipino storytellers by rewarding their creativity with accessible and self-determined monetization, while gifting readers with an interactive and visually stimulating reading experience.
The app is a localized version of the Thai original Joylada, and is further powered by homegrown social entertainment platform Kumu–a partnership that speaks to the growing online fiction community.
The shorter bursts of creativity that TypeKita champions through the chat-fiction format effectively refashion the digital novel experience, making both creation and consumption that much more accessible–providing a gateway to long-form in the future if creators are so inclined. This is further enriched by the wide range of genres at the readers’ disposal on the app, but the top categories so far are reflective of its current audience and what is meaningful to them. From romance to diversity within romance via LGBTQ+ themes; to young adult, coming-of-age stories; and to fantasy and mystery, indulging imagination and curiosity.
While many of its best features are free, the app also has the makings of the ultimate side hustle for writers of all kinds, as seen in their monetization feature for creators.
