BCDA receives Silver Quill Award in Bali

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is one of the 11 organizations recognized by the International Association of Business Communicators Asia-Pacific Region (IABC APAC) at its recently concluded Fusion 2023 Conference in Bali, Indonesia, with a Silver Quill Award. Its winning entry under the Publications Category, “One Nation, One Legacy,” is an innovative three-part Annual Report series documenting the state firm’s achievements in the years 2019-2021. BCDA is one of the winners from the Philippines and is among the 29 winning entries from the APAC region, alongside business communication professionals from Australia and Singapore.

This Annual Report series is comprised of “We Win As One” (2019) featuring the world-class sports complex of New Clark City used during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games; “We Heal As One” (2020), which focused on BCDA’s role on the whole-of-nation approach to beat the COVID-19 pandemic; and “We Build As One” (2021) highlighting BCDA’s resilience to push through the completion of big-ticket infrastructure projects, such as the Clark International Airport new terminal, amid the global health crisis.

IABC APAC Silver Quill Award honors outstanding communication programs and works in the Asia-Pacific Region, where winning entries in IABC’s Gold Quill Award are declared winners of this regional award.

IABC APAC is a regional board with 12 chapters in eight countries throughout the Asia Pacific region, along with members-at-large in Singapore, Pakistan, China, Fiji, and Thailand.

(PJLI), the umbrella organization of the microfinance services leader Cebuana Lhuillier, presents the yearly Brillo Awards which serves as a powerful testament to the company’s ethos, underscoring how loyalty, dedication, industriousness, and exceptional performance garner the recognition, esteem, and incentives they truly deserve. In a recent occurrence, the company once again celebrated its foremost achievers and top performers through the much-anticipated “Brillo” annual recognition program, hosted at the illustrious Shangri-La The Fort in Manila.

Now in its 14th year, this year’s Brillo emphasized the 35-year-old organization’s commitment to purpose-driven service. Since its formal inception as Cebuana Lhuillier in 1988, the company has followed the ethos of its founder and Chairman, Ambassador Philippe Jones Lhuillier of providing financial inclusion to every Filipino through exceptional service steeped in “malasakit”.

This year’s Brillo followed the theme “Pahinungod: Celebrating Purpose-Driven Service”, inspired by the Cebuano phrase “pahinungon sa gugma” which means dedicated with love. More than 600 loyalty awardees, close to a hundred business awards for top performers and target achievers, and several individual awards were given away to Cebuana Lhuillier’s creme of the crop.

Through the years, Cebuana Lhuillier has continued to value its employees by creating a supportive and nurturing work environment that focuses on career advancement, personal development, continuous learning, work-life balance, and dependable leadership.

DepEd together with Aice Brought Out the Fun in Learning through Nationwide Partnership

The Department of Education (DepEd) partnered with Aice Ice Cream Philippines this year to make a cheerful learning environment for more than 95,000 students, faculties, and school personnel nationwide. This partnership supports two of DepEd’s educational programs in the country, the National Learning Camp and Brigada Eskwela.

Guided by the concept of “Kasiyahan sa Pag-aaral,” DepEd and the well-loved ice cream brand aimed to magnify the genuine happiness of individuals through small moments of happiness and helping each other with DepEd’s first-ever National Learning Camp (NLC) and Brigada Eskwela.

The National Learning Camp is the first learning camp of the country that aims to aid learning gaps brought by the pandemic. During the NLC, DepEd and Aice conducted fun-filled programs and educational activities for both students and teachers. Free ice cream was also provided for all participants after the activities for everyone’s enjoyment.

Aice also participated in DepEd’s annual Brigada Eskwela, a program that prepares all schools for the opening of the new school year, ensuring that all educational materials are available and making sure that classrooms and other school facilities are clean and well maintained in time for opening of classes. To support this annual initiative by DepED, Aice donated cleaning materials for the classrooms and helped clean school facilities. Aice employees volunteered to selected schools during the Brigada Eskwela.

(FILRT), the real estate investment trust (REIT) of the Filinvest Group, has reinforced its commitment to being the country’s first sustainability-themed REIT with its recent Sustainability Leadership Award in Asia, Australia, & New Zealand (Bronze) at the prestigious International Business Awards or The Stevies, the world’s premier business awards.

The Sustainability Leadership Award is a new Stevies category, making FILRT one of the world’s first winners of this award.

The Stevie® Awards are deemed the world’s premier business awards. They were created in 2002 to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and working professionals worldwide.

This year, winners were determined through over two months of judging by the average scores of more than 230 professionals worldwide. Winners will be celebrated during a gala event in Rome, Italy on October 13.

To differentiate itself from the growing REIT market in the Philippines, FILRT has positioned its portfolio as the first sustainability-themed REIT, given its many green features.

FWD Life Insurance launches new game show

Continuing its vision of changing the way people feel about insurance, FWD Life Insurance Corporation (FWD Philippines) recently launched a brand new and exciting game show.

Pinoy Money Master, the first of its kind in the Philippines, engages with viewers online by teaching them how to handle finances in an entertaining way. Imagine a TV quiz show, but focused on money matters, in a platform that is easily accessible by the whole nation.

“Pera wiser, para happier” is the main takeaway as the game show aims to teach Filipinos that a sustainable financial future is always within reach.

The game show is a battle of the generations–where Gen Zs, Millennials, and Gen Xers outwit and outmatch each other to claim up to PhP100,000, life insurance, and the bragging rights to be dubbed as the Pinoy Money Master. The first three episodes feature social media influencers like Inka Magnaye, Stanley Chi, and Nicko Sia, who team up with a group of Filipino contestants to see which of the three generations reign supreme.

Livestreamed via FWD’s Facebook page, viewers can also participate and win special prizes from each episode.

The pilot episode of Pinoy Money Master is now available for streaming on FWD’s Facebook page.

Aboitiz Foundation, Aboitiz Land, CORA Foundation join forces for coastal conservation

In a significant move towards environmental conservation and sustainability, the Aboitiz Foundation, Aboitiz Land, and the Communities Organized for Resource Allocation (CORA) Foundation signed a Memorandum of Agreement on September 13 to further reinforce their commitment to protecting coastal ecosystems and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

The signatories include Aboitiz Foundation President and COO Maribeth Marasigan, Aboitiz Land Senior AVP of Legal and Corporate Affairs Atty. Misch Sta. Ana, and Cora Foundation Founder and Executive Director Antoinette Taus.

The partnership’s core objective is to unify the strengths and resources of Aboitiz Land, Aboitiz Foundation, and Cora Foundation in implementing the “Coastal Clean Up 2.0” in Calubcub II, San Juan, Batangas, the host community of Aboitiz Land’s Seafront Residences. The Coastal Clean Up 2.0 includes the implementation of Capacity Development (CapDev) initiatives, as well as the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities, focused on environmental protection. These efforts target not only the local host communities but also the other stakeholders too.

Araneta City welcomes Cardinal Tagle at Sagrada Familia Church

Araneta City was blessed by the presence of His Eminence Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle as he presided on September 16 a special Eucharistic celebration at the Sagrada Familia Church, located on top of the New Gateway Mall 2.

Cardinal Tagle was joined by Fr. Ariston Sison Jr., Fr. Ronaldo Santos, Fr. Antonio Labiao Jr., and Fr. Carmelo Caluag in the special service at the brand-new church in the City of Firsts. Attending the service are members of the Araneta family, Araneta Group executives, tenants of Araneta City malls, and other invited guests.

Cardinal Tagle also led the blessing of the Sagrada Familia Church altar, a ceremony that marks the readiness of the church to open to the public.

Located at Level 5 of the New Gateway Mall 2, Sagrada Familia Church will provide a welcome spiritual retreat for people from all walks of life. The fully airconditioned mitre-shaped church has an all-white interior, inspired by The Oculus in New York City, and can accommodate up to 1,000 mass-goers.

MAP spearheads partnership and cooperation management organizations in ASEAN

Being the leading management organization in the country, the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) spearheaded the recent landmark Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation (MPC) which was signed by the MAP, the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) and the Thailand Management Association (TMA) during the 21st MAP International CEO Conference last September 12.

The MPC seeks to deepen business linkages within the region and assure its active cooperation in the goal towards ASEAN centrality, described as “the primary driving force in its relations and cooperation with its external partners.” The partnership aims to pursue mutually beneficial partnerships within the region through sharing of best management practices, undertaking education, information activities and training programs that can enhance knowledge and skills of management practitioners and future leaders, and advocate for reforms that will improve the ease of doing business in the ASEAN region.
