UnionBank unveils digital solutions, spearheads innovation in transaction banking

Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) embarked on a digital transformation journey in 2016, long before the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the importance of digital readiness.
The bank has gone the extra mile to provide a seamless and enhanced experience for its customers. UnionBank’s tailored approach is an excellent demonstration of the bank’s commitment to meeting the diverse requirements of its customer base, as it embraces the advantages of the digital age.
The first of its kind, PayExpress, is an electronic supplier payment solution with automated Check Disbursements and Creditable Withholding Tax (CWT) Generation. It allows clients to conveniently manage transactions by collecting Official Receipts (ORs) from suppliers and vendors prior to disbursing or crediting payments.
What sets PayExpress apart is its immediate generation of Creditable Withholding Tax (CWT) and Invoice Vouchers, sent directly to nominated email addresses of suppliers and vendors, once the ORs are collected and funds are credited to payees.
Unionbank’s Payroll Digital Account Opening (eDAO) provides efficient, paperless, and fully-digital end-to-end ePaycard payroll and corporate disbursement solution for corporate clients to their employees.
eDAO also complements the upcoming Bank Account Portability For Workers Act (Hb7619) by simplifying the account setup process for corporations.
With Remote Check Deposit (RCD), corporate clients can effortlessly use a check scanner to deposit a hundred checks at a time online, eliminating the need for branch visits.
UnionBank introduced its award-winning Mobile Check Deposit (MCD) in 2020, effectively reshaping the operational landscape for business clients.
All these cutting-edge transaction banking solutions are conveniently accessible through a single platform known as “The Portal”, a one stop shop corporate banking facility offering corporate clients seamless access to UnionBank’s extensive array of products and services.

PLDT, Smart turnover learning tools to Cabanatuan City students

PLDT and its wireless unit, Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) recently turned over ten desktop computers to the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Cabanatuan City in the province of Nueva Ecija, to help expand the learning delivery platforms of schools in the area.
PLDT and Smart also installed learning tools on the computers to help the division implement module-based instruction. The Central Visayan Institute Foundation Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF DLP) Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) that were uploaded in the units will aid teachers in simplifying complex lessons and teach students to study on their own.
The donation complements PLDT and Smart’s earlier efforts in helping the division improve learning outcomes among Cabanatuan City students. In June, PLDT and Smart onboarded more than 100 teachers and supervisors from the division to the pandemic tested CVIF DLP.
The crisis-resilient teaching pedagogy encourages independent learning among students. This is made possible by the CVIF DLP Learning Activity Sheets (CVIF DLP LAS) that help improve the academic performance of students even with little to no teacher or parent intervention.
Smart and PLDT-Smart Foundation have been supporting the CVIF-DLP for over a decade. PLDT and Smart develop and promote various educational initiatives in line with their commitment to help the nation achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on Quality Education.
