MAKATIMED employees group wins award, PRU LIFE UK wins four awards, PHILIP STEIN partners with Disney, HOLCIM recognized at in Europa Awards

MakatiMed Employee Association wins 2023 award

Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed) and its recognized employee union, the Makati Medical Center Employee Association-Alliance of Filipino Workers (MAMECEA-AFW), demonstrated its unwavering commitment to fostering a harmonious workplace environment by securing the Department of Labor and Employment — National Conciliation and Mediation Board-National Capital Region’s (NCMB-NCR) Regional Awards for Outstanding Labor-Management Cooperation (LMC) and Grievance Machinery (GM) for Industrial Peace.

MakatiMed and MAMECEA showcased their exceptional achievements in promoting labor-management relations, enhancing employee welfare, and optimizing company efficiency.

The awards were officially presented during the NCMB-NCR’s Areawide Labor Education Forum, held on October 4, at the Emerald Hall of the Citystate Tower Hotel in Ermita, Manila. This event was attended by 14 dedicated union officers and two management representatives of MakatiMed.

MakatiMed and MAMECEA-AFW’s noteworthy accomplishments for the past year contributed to their well-deserved awards. These include the promotion to an Open Door Policy, encouraging open communication through various channels for issue resolution, including bi-monthly LMC meetings, an exclusive Viber chat group, and face-to-face appointments for urgent matters. They also successfully negotiated and approved the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) or the agreement between the employer and the union regarding terms and conditions of employment within a remarkably short time frame, spanning only three sessions and finalizing within two months.

The Union is also commended for involving not only hospital leaders and line managers but also their members during Labor Relations Refreshers, promoting a deeper understanding of labor relations within the organization. They garnered high ratings on the Annual Patient Satisfaction Survey for the past two years, reflecting a positive workplace impact on patient care.

Pru Life UK receives back-to-back awards at the 20th annual International Business Awards

Pru LIfe UK President and CEO Eng Teng Wong received the awards.

Pru Life UK was awarded a Silver Stevie® in the Communications or PR Campaign of the Year – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion category for PRUHealth FamLove, a first-of-its-kind renewable plan that provides critical illness insurance coverage for up to 4 family members.

PRUHealth FamLove is a progressive and inclusive insurance product covering both traditional and modern families, including foster families, LGBTQIA+ couples, single parents, and common-law partners.

Pru Life UK was also bestowed two Bronze Stevie® awards in the Communications or PR Campaign of the Year – Climate Change and Internal Communications category.

At the core of its work on communicating insurance protection as a climate adaptation measure is the pioneering study which revealed that no disease group is immune to the effects of climate change and warned that cases of certain diseases will increase due to global warming.

This made a strong case for financial security to be recognized as a climate adaptation measure. The result of the study was released to the public through a media briefing, followed by a three-part webisode with industry experts.

Meanwhile, its 2022 Byaheng PRU Employee Engagement Campaign was recognized for excellence in internal communications. A project of its Employee Welfare Committee, it has been instrumental in fostering collaboration among employees from various divisions and empowering over 900 full-time employees to lead their company-wide initiatives for growth and success.

The International Business Awards is a prestigious awards program that honors achievements in the workplace. The 2023 competition has attracted over 3,700 nominations from various organizations in more than 60 countries.

Holcim recognized for sustainability excellence in Europa Awards

Leading building solutions provider Holcim Philippines’ efforts to drive business results and positive impact were recognized at the 2023 Europa Awards with the company bagging top prizes in the Digitalization for Sustainability and Water Resource Management categories.

Organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, the Europa Awards recognizes companies for exceptional performance and contributions in promoting sustainability in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the Philippine Development Plan.

The company received the Water Resource Management Award for excellence managing water resources through innovative approaches and practices. The company highlighted its success in reducing freshwater withdrawals by 64% since 2018 driven by investments in systems for operational efficiency and rainwater harvesting facilities.

Holcim Philippines aims to cut freshwater withdrawals to zero and provide water to the communities by 2030.It was the second water award Holcim Philippines received in 2023 with the company also bagging the Wise Water Choice Award from the National Water Resources Board earlier this year.

Holcim Philippines also took home top honors in the Digitalization for Sustainability category for excellent use of technology to reach sustainability goals. The company highlighted its digitalization programs raising the efficiency, safety and environmental performance of the business. Of particular note were its incorporation of data analytics for greater transparency and speed in decision making and Plants of Tomorrow initiatives focused on operational excellence and predictive maintenance.
