Three schools, chosen by a distinguished board of judges, each received the Youth Innovation Award at the Final Presentation and Awarding Ceremony held on July 27-28, at Crimson Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

L’Oréal partners with PCX to recover, sort, recycle

L’Oréal Groupe, in partnership with PCX, a registered producer responsibility organization (PRO), announced its commitment to recover, sort and recycle plastic equivalent to 100% of its yearly plastic footprint volume starting in 2023, going beyond the 20% recovery target mandated by the local government this year. In line with its sustainability commitments under the L’Oréal for the Future program, L’Oréal Groupe fully supports the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022 regulated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Philippines.
The EPR Act is a practical approach on efficient waste management, waste reduction and development of environment-friendly packaging to promote sustainable consumption and principles of a circular economy, while incorporating the responsibility of the producer throughout the products lifecycle.
Participating obliged enterprises (OEs) in the Philippines are required to establish a comprehensive EPR program, which should include suitable and effective recovery, treatment, recycling or disposal methods.
L’Oréal’s commitment to recover and manage 100% of its plastic footprint volume in the Philippines is part of the L’Oréal for the Future program, the Group’s sustainable development strategy for 2030, set in accordance with the science-based targets initiative.
With the partnership’s announcement, L’Oréal will become one of only five companies working with PCX that has pledged to recover and recycle 100% of its yearly plastic waste volume in the Philippines by 2023.

Pilmico celebrates 25 years of nourishing the nation from mill to meal
Pilmico Animal Nutrition Corporation (Pilmico), the agribusiness subsidiary of the Aboitiz Group, celebrates 25 years of bringing quality feeds, meats, and more through its mill-to-meal process during its 25th anniversary.
Pilmico entered the animal nutrition industry in 1998 through commercial swine farms and a feed milling facility in Tarlac. Since then, they have ventured further down the food value chain – from poultry layer farms to a meat processing plant to a meats retail brand. More recently, their newest Breeding and Nursery Farm in Nueva Ecija, built to help augment the local pork supply, was completed; this supports the growing presence of its meats retail brand, The Good Meat, which is now available in over 400 supermarkets and six-stand alone stores.
In its 25-year history, Pilmico has been a trusted partner to Filipino livestock farmers and businesses for producing quality feeds, meats, and more. In addition to its growing portfolio of products, the company has also helped advance communities through the distribution of livelihood kits, such as egg machines and gilts, which they have given to beneficiaries nationwide.
