Where diversity is valued
Mondelez Philippines works hard to ensure that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or collectively called “DEI”, are observed and enacted within its ranks. Guided by its Purpose, Mission, and Values, the company strives to champion DEI not only for its colleagues and culture, but also for the communities where they are present. It is DEI which lies at the center of its celebration of International Women’s Day, together with the company’s belief that it is diversity which strengthens it, and drives its innovation and growth.
In Mondelez Philippines, 59% of its leaders are women, which is above the local standards. The representation of women in leadership positions is one of the indicators that the Company measures itself against to ensure DEI is not only a byword, but a reality.
“We are the makers of Oreo and Cadbury, brands which have power to give joy, uplift, and inspire acts of generosity. With such iconic brands under our watch, we feel a responsibility to take a stand in issues that matter, and one of these is DEI,” shares Aleli Arcilla, VP and managing director of Mondelez Philippines.
Shares Kristine Enriquez, senior marketing manager for the Biscuits category, “Celebrating women in the company does not only happen during March… We live and breathe it every single day.”
Manufacturing companies like Mondelez Philippines are typically male-dominated workplaces due the nature of their business. But the company is proud of its women leaders, including Bianca Baluyut-Lazo, a manager in sales, Kathy Camon, a manager in manufacturing, and Michelle Santillan, marketing head.

Hiring platform
In line with their latest campaign “Hire Real Talent” dedicated to educating companies in seeking the right talents post-pandemic, online job portal JobStreet Philippines advises companies to reconsider the use of social media in their recruitment processes.
A recent study showed that when looking for a job, 28 percent of Filipinos prefer online recruitment platforms, corporate pages, and websites. This means many job seekers, from entry-level to skilled ones, go straight to the source of job postings when they are actively looking for opportunities.
Legitimate job platforms like JobStreet have specialized filtering capacities for hirers and recruiters to use when looking for a candidate that requires certain skills and experience.
JobStreet offers numerous benefits for employers to aid them through their recruitment process and lead them to make great hires. For newly registered hirers, JobStreet offers 30-day free job posting on their platform with access to over 14 million candidates, useful features on multiple channels (e.g. website and mobile app), easy-to-use job advertisement composer, powerful candidate management tools, and many more.
9 in 10 Filipinas want to make more money
Nine in 10 Filipinas want to earn more money but barriers such as lack of funding prevent them from tapping into opportunities to do so, like in starting a business.
These are among the Philippine responses of the Global Progress for Women Report released by Avon recently.
The report said a staggering 79 percent believe inadequate financial resources are a setback to becoming entrepreneurs. Over half (52 percent) the women surveyed admitted to the lack of confidence being a barrier to starting a business.
Driven by the desire to support women and the causes that matter most to them, Avon Philippines ushers in the #TalagangPilipina, bringing together a diverse group of Filipinas from Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach to transwoman advocate Coleen Abarrientos to celebrate what it means to be a modern Filipina woman — whether that’s being a working woman, a beauty queen, an athlete, artist, and more.
#TalagangPilipina campaign is part of Avon Philippines’ commitment to championing Filipina women who defy expectations and dare to break the outdated traditions forced on them for far too long.
Journey toward equity
UPS Philippines is celebrating Women’s History Month this March by spotlighting how the company and its partners continue to work toward a common goal of driving greater gender equity and inclusivity.

Teradyne’s Women In Teradyne (WIT), a program aimed at better understanding the value of increasing women representation in its workforce, enabled company executive Jacqueline Briones, to formulate programs aimed at nurturing a more diverse workforce. Briones also established a diversity, equality and inclusion program in Cebu.
At LHK Creation Inc. – a garment producer for brands like J.Crew, Chico’s, Banana Republic and Brooks Brothers – women account for 66 percent of its management and leadership team.

New fire substation
The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) inaugurated a new fire sub-station in Pasig.
The Meralco Rescue Fire Sub-station, located within the power distributor’s Ortigas headquarters, will serve as the power distributor’s fire emergency response center, training facility for firefighters and rescue teams, and a direct line of the BFP to Meralco’s System Control so that power can quickly be switched off in areas serviced by the distribution utility should these be hit by fire.
It will also house the Meralco Fire Brigade and its specialized equipment such as fire trucks, water tankers, rescue tenders, and rescue boats. The new sub-station complements the operations of BFP-Pasig and will serve not just the needs of Meralco but also that of nearby cities like Pasig and Mandaluyong.
