2GO ramps up support for event logistics

2GO delivers the Alveo IRONMAN 70.3 Davao event essentials to Azuela Cove from Manila.

2GO recently provided logistics support to the first IRONMAN triathlon event of the year by facilitating the transfer of large-ticket paraphernalia for the Davao leg. 

Bikes, race equipment, race bibs, singlets, merchandise and exhibition materials were shipped from Manila on 2GO vessels for the races and events on March 23 to 26. 

With 2GO’s range of assets, the group’s capability to operate in a wide network within the Philippines provides fast logistical solutions that are safe, secure, and dependable for any cargo transport by land, air, and sea.

BPI wins record number of sustainability awards 

The Bank of the Philippines Islands (BPI) secured back-to-back sustainability awards from a multitude of notable local and regional awarding entities throughout 2022.

These recognitions underscore the bank’s purpose-driven and staunch commitment in promoting conscious consumerism and sustainable operations by embedding positive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its core.

BPI received a record-high 10 recognitions which further affirmed its position as the leader in sustainability in the Philippine banking industry and as among the best in the Asia Pacific region.

BPI was recognized as the Most Sustainable Bank (Philippines) by International Business Magazine Awards; Best Bank for Sustainable Finance (Philippines) by Global Finance Sustainable Finance Awards; Best Sustainable Bank (Philippines) by FinanceAsia Country Awards; Top Sustainability Advocates in Asia by Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability Awards; Sustainability Company of the Year — Circle of Excellence by Asia CEO Awards; and Best Bank for Sustainable Finance — Domestic, Philippines by The Asset Triple A Country Awards for Sustainable Finance.

The Bank also clinched the Financial Leadership in Sustaining Communities (Asia Pacific) citation from Global Finance Sustainable Finance Awards, House Awards Service Providers APAC: ESG Solution from Corporate Treasurer Awards, Market Leader in ESG from Euromoney Market Leaders, and Award for Sustainable Development Finance Program from Manila Bulletin’s Sustainability Recognition Night.

Bahay Bulilit

McDonald’s Philippines executives led the turnover ceremonies, including Margot Torres, managing director,  Adi Timbol-Hernandez, corporate relations director, Austin Torres, public affairs manager and Marie Asistio-Angeles, executive director, RMHC.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines turned over its fourth Bahay Bulilit Learning Center in Barangay Tibungco Davao City. The project is a major advocacy for education of McDonald’s Philippines owner and founder George Yang.

RHMC, in partnership with the local city government, opened the fourth Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit Learning Center in Brgy. Tibungco last March 30. There are three other Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers in the city located in Brgy. Buhangin, Brgy. Mintal, and Brgy. Dumoy.

Every Bahay Bulilit Learning Center provides childhood education in preparation for formal schooling. Child development workers and community volunteers assigned by the local government are trained to teach these children.

“Government support is important in our goal of uplifting the lives of children through education. Not only do they help us identify the communities that need learning centers, but they also generously donate the land on which RMHC will build the learning center,” Yang said.

RMHC has built 37 Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers in various areas all over the country. Aside from Bahay Bulilit, RMHC’s flagship programs also include Ronald McDonald Read to Learn and Kindness Kitchen.

PBCWE  elects Aboitiz Group for Governing Council

The Aboitiz Group has been elected to the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE) Governing Council, an assemblage of industry leaders advocating for workplace gender equality and promoting the economic empowerment of women in the country.

Gingery Hontiveros, Aboitiz Equity Ventures first vice president and chief sustainability and reputation management officer, represents the Aboitiz Group at the PBCWE Governing Council.

The Governing Council is elected by fellow PBCWE members, and the Aboitiz Group’s election is a testament to its industry-setting standard of gender diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and influence in the wider business community. IPC summer music festival 

Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) will hold its Isuzu Summer Music Festival at the Alabang Town Center — Town Plaza on April 21 to 23, teasing the public with the official unveiling of the new Isuzu D-MAX.

Customers will now have the chance to see up-close and test drive the recently launched Isuzu mu-X and new Isuzu D-MAX as IPC will have a public display of these models during their 3-day summer music festival.

The show will start on April 21 at 5:45 p.m with the unveiling of their new models with all-time favorite OPM artists such as Yeng Constantino, Sam Concepcion, MYMP and Barbie Almalbis scheduled to perform live through-out the weekend.

RCBC DiskarTech joins Paleng-QR PH Plus launch

Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) through its financial inclusion super app RCBC DiskarTech joined the launch of Paleng-QR Ph Plus in Pasig City and Bacolod City.

Pasig City is the first city in Metro Manila to implement the interoperable facility while Bacolod City is the first in Western Visayas.

Paleng-QR PH Plus was launched in Pasig City Mega Market on March 3 with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Felipe Medalla, and BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo Puyat. Meanwhile, the interoperable facility was launched in Libertad Public Market, Bacolod City with Mayor Albee Benitez, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Councilor Celia Flor spearheading the event on March 14.

The collaborative initiative of BSP, Department of Interior and Local Government, and leading digital payment apps like RCBC DiskarTech aims to promote further financial inclusion in cities by boosting further the capacity of mSMEs, especially market vendors.

RCBC DiskarTech’s partnership with Paleng-QR PH Plus is in line with RCBC’s vision of financially including more unbanked Filipinos into the system by creating a suite of digital innovations that are proactive to the growing needs of Filipinos. 

Abot-Kaya campaign

Lalamove and its brand ambassador and business owner Kim Chiu launched the  “Abot-Kaya” campaign to empower entrepreneurs through affordable and reliable same-day truck delivery services across areas in Luzon and island-wide coverage in Cebu.

Igloo supports MSMEs

Regional insurtech Igloo, GCash, and Malayan Insurance launched NegosyoCare, an insurance product specifically designed to protect MSMEs. Igloo believes  insurance products catered to MSMEs can support inclusive and sustainable economic growth and employment for the country and Filipinos.

Available via GCash’s GInsure marketplace, NegosyoCare premiums begin at P160 for one month coverage and up to P525 for one year coverage. 

NegosyoCare provides coverage for accidental deaths, total permanent disability due to accident, and disablement or dismemberment due to accident for up to P50,000. Benefits also include medical reimbursement for accidents for up to P5,000, fire cash assistance for P10,000 and coverage for burglary and housebreaking for P10,000.

NegosyoCare is another addition to the growing line of Igloo products currently available in the GCash Insure marketplace. Bayad bags Excellence Awards

Bayad made a complete sweep after being conferred with two Excellence Awards during the Pag-IBIG Fund Chairman’s Report, held on March 28 at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
