Globe debuts zero-emission BYD EV, Gogoro Smartscooters via raffle

Globe gave its customers a chance to make their dream drives come true while making a difference for the environment through its G Chance the Raffle — offering the soon-to-be-launched BYD Dolphin Pure EV and the Gogoro Smartscooters as its top raffle prizes.

BYD Dolphin Pure EV, distributed by AC Motors of Ayala Corp.,  is a 5-seater electric vehicle that runs on a 70-kW (95 horsepower) electric motor with 180 Nm torque, powered by a 44.9-kWh lithium-ion iron phosphate battery. The car’s compact hatchback form can comfortably handle out-of-town trips with no noise or vibrations, high levels of safety, and zero emissions — allowing Mother Earth to breathe better.

Gogoro Smartscooters, on the other hand, are two-wheeled rides supported by convenient and cost-efficient battery-swapping technology — powered through “GoStations,” where users can conveniently swap depleted batteries for fully charged ones in as quick as just six seconds.

Officially launching in the fourth quarter of this year, these scooters are being brought to the country through the official teaming up of Globe’s 917Ventures, the Ayala Corporation, and Gogoro Taiwan in a concerted effort to bring cleaner transportation options.

One BYD Dolphin Pure EV and three Gogoro Smartscooters were up for grabs in this year’s G Chance the Raffle, won by lucky subscribers Ysabel Ubana, Mario Acab, Jr., Eiryll Nynnya Ang, and Michale John Ilagan.

Nescafé’s Kape’t Bisig program to raise the next generation of coffee farmers

Last Coffee Month, Nescafé launched Kape’t Bisig sa Pagbangon, a program to foster enthusiasm for agriculture among the youth. The program intends to assist coffee farmers achieve their goal of providing higher education to their children through a PHP10M educational assistance fund. The program also features the Kape’t Bisig Music Challenge, a social media campaign that calls on a public outpouring of support for Filipino coffee farmers and spur interest in agriculture among young Filipinos.

Nescafé Kape’t Bisig has partnered with three universities in Mindanao, Sultan Kudarat State University, Central Mindanao University, and University of Southern Mindanao to identify beneficiary students, prioritizing children of farmers in agriculture-related courses. Kape’t Bisig will grant 400 students with PHP 25,000 each to fund their academic requirements. 

The Nescafé Plan has succeeded in demonstrating the profitability of coffee farming based on the results of the 3-year pilot of Project Coffee+, its capacity-building program with GIZ that aims to transform smallholder farmers in Mindanao into agripreneurs. Under Project Coffee+, an average increase of 300% in yield and profit was achieved among the first set of 1,500 farmers who were trained in entrepreneurship and regenerative agriculture. Eighty-six percent of beneficiary farmers have crossed the poverty threshold since joining Project Coffee+ in 2018. 

Throughout October, audiences also rallied to celebrate and support farmers by joining NESCAF퉒s Kape’t Bisig music challenge on Tiktok and Facebook which has generated over a million engagements from young netizens on Facebook and Tiktok.

Brother Philippines’ Brigada Eskwela comeback

The event marks the 11th consecutive year of Brother Philippines’ partnership with the PBSP to support this local educational institution.

Brigada Eskwela is an initiative that aims to enhance the readiness of public schools for the opening of the school year. It brings together volunteers from various organizations to help improve the facilities and provide essential resources for students and teachers.

Over the past 11 years, Brother Philippines and PBSP have been steadfast supporters of Iñigan Elementary School, delivering tangible benefits to the school and its community. This aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly focusing on the 4th SDG of Quality Education by being dedicated to creating opportunities for the students of Iñigan Elementary School. 

With over a decade of partnership efforts, Brother and PBSP have been able to provide essential school supplies and materials to students, contributing to their learning experience. This also hit the UN’s 17th SDG or Partnership for the Goals.

SAFC fuels community spirit through sports excellence in Pasig City

Aji-Ginisa leads the I Love Veggie-licious Movement

Payo launches new E-commerce logistics app

Payo, the leading E-commerce enabler in the Philippines, launches its first logistics mobile application, providing merchants with a more innovative and convenient way to manage their businesses online.

Toyota partners with LGUs for free community shuttle

Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation has partnered with the city government of Santa Rosa and city government of Pasay for the Toyota Community Shuttle (TCS) — a free on-demand, shared transportation service, which will be delivered via digital interface.

Under separate agreements, TMP is providing each city government with a fleet of five (5) brand-new and airconditioned Toyota Lite Ace units that will run on flexible routes within city boundaries.

The TCS is set to provide free rides for a year starting December 1 in Santa Rosa City and December 2 in Pasay City.

The booking service for TCS will be delivered through the ‘myToyota Shuttle PH’ application – one of the flagship mobility solutions of TMP’s mobility service arm, Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines, Inc. (TMSPH).

The ‘myTOYOTA Shuttle PH’ allows an efficient on-demand shuttle management that optimizes route planning and seat booking. Through a downloadable mobile application, commuters can easily book their rides using a personal device, monitor the real-time location, and check the arrival time of the TCS unit.

Santa Rosa City is identified as a “Next Wave City” and has strong initiatives to transform into a “High-level Smart City”. Pasay City, also known as the “Travel City” is leading initiatives to transform into a “Sustainable Eco City”. Both cities are embracing innovation and digitalization. This aligns with TMP’s vision of providing easier, smarter and safer mobility for people.
