Makati Mayor and senatorial candidate Abby Binay met with local officials in Cebu on Monday, led by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia. During her visit, Binay showcased Makati’s innovative social programs and policies aimed at enhancing good governance and urban development.
Garcia expressed admiration for the initiatives implemented by Binay, particularly in health and education. “The education package is impressive, especially the COVID-19 kits provided during the pandemic,” Garcia said as she welcomed Binay at the Cebu Provincial Capitol.

The meeting also focused on strengthening partnerships between national and local governments to foster inclusive growth. Binay participated in the Sugbo Negosyo seed money distribution, where she pledged to promote products from winning Cebuano micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Makati.
Sugbo Negosyo provides qualified beneficiaries with mentorship and a capital grant of PHP200,000 to enhance their products and services.
Earlier, Binay met with Cebu City Mayor Raymond Garcia at Cebu City Hall and paid a courtesy call to Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan and Rep. Cynthia Chan at Lapu-Lapu City Hall. She also engaged with Cebu Representatives Emmarie Ouano-Dizon, Peter Calderon, Janice Salimbangon, and Edsel Galeos to share insights from her tenure as a former member of the House of Representatives.
In their discussions, Binay highlighted how Makati institutionalized healthcare policies, including providing free medicines to city residents, city hall employees, and other beneficiaries of the Yellow Card program.
Additionally, she invited various mayors from the province to visit Makati for benchmarking activities. “We are eager to share our experiences. You are always welcome in Makati for a benchmarking activity,” she said.
