Maynilad backs Brigada Eskwela 2022

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. donated pandemic essentials to 112 public schools within its service area, in support of the Brigada Eskwela 2022 program of the Department of Education (DepEd).

The water company turned over 810 bottles of liquid soap, 12,400 washable facemasks, 5,300 pieces of bottled water, and wash buckets to 14 School Division Offices for the use of school personnel and indigent students when campuses open on August 22.

Aside from these donations, Maynilad is also installing at least 40 modular handwashing stations in several schools to reinforce the habit of proper handwashing among students. Furthermore, the company is conducting W.A.S.H. (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) training sessions online, reaching some 5,144 educators to date.

The company will also ensure that its excavations near schools are safe and passable for pedestrians and motorists, and that requests for septic tank siphoning will be prioritized.

Re-learning A-Z to stop cyberbullying

A is for apple? Think again. In cyber lingo, the alphabet takes a whole new meaning, but not necessarily all good.

Offensive language and emojis, which often victimize users of social media and social messaging apps, do not stop at inflicting emotional pain.  It may cause anxiety, fear, and depression that could prove damaging to mental health, especially among kids and young adults. Cyberbullying is also known to lead to negative self-talk and low self-esteem among children.

“To stop cyberbullying, we start with understanding how and where it happens.  Parents can protect their children better if they know how young people communicate. Globe is sharing helpful tips on how parents can guide their kids in this new digital environment,” said  Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer at Globe.

To explore the new language of the youth and learn the A-Z of cyberbullying prevention,  users may visit Globe’s new portal, makeitsafe.ph, accessible via mobile and desktop browsers.

The portal is part of Globe’s cyber safety advocacy, which runs parallel to its support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which fosters innovation towards economic development under SDG No. 9, and inclusive and equitable quality education under SDG No. 4.

The country’s leading digital solutions platform has various initiatives to protect people, particularly, minors and the youth, from cyberviolence, which includes bullying, and online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC).

Globe also implements the Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), a series of workshops and modules that teaches students, parents, and teachers about online responsibility and safety.  It has been rolling out initiatives under the #makeITsafePH campaign to raise awareness about cybersecurity, partnering with various local and international organizations to block sites that promote OSAEC.

Ford Philippines received three awards from the recently concluded 19th Philippine Quill Awards for its communications programs and initiatives.

Two Excellence Awards were given to Ford for the launch of the all-new Ford Territory (Communication Management: Marketing, Advertising, and Brand Communication category) and the Ford RangeHER program (Communication Management: Diversity and Inclusion category). Ford also received a Merit Award for the Henry Ford Awards (Communication Skills: Special and Experiential Events category). All three programs were launched and rolled out at the height of the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

The Ford RangeHER program aimed at building an emotional connection among female consumers and improve favorable opinion towards the Ford Ranger as a pick-up truck that does not solely cater to the needs of male customers. The 20th Henry Ford Awards Winners Night not only celebrated a momentous milestone for motoring journalists in the Philippines but also took the opportunity to give special recognition to those who went beyond the call of duty to help others with the Go Further Changemaker Award.
