Maybank Philippines Davao Islamic Banking Unit formally opens

Maybank Philippines, Inc. (MPI) opened its second Islamic Banking Unit on May 16, 2025, at Maybank Davao Business Center, Ground Floor, HAI Building, Pryce Business Park, JP Laurel Avenue, Davao City.

The launch ceremony welcomed valued clients and guests from the Muslim business community. Honorable Consul General of Malaysia Mr. Deddy Faisal delivered congratulatory remarks, highlighting Maybank’s pioneering role as the first private commercial bank in the Philippines to offer Shariah-compliant banking products and its contribution to financial inclusion, economic empowerment and social prosperity.

MPI OIC-President and CEO Patrick Dennis L. Solosa said: “The opening of our second Islamic Banking Unit marks a significant step in expanding the Bank’s portfolio of inclusive financial solutions that are aligned with its customers’ life priorities, values and aspirations.”

He added: “Islamic banking is built on the foundations of fairness, equity and shared prosperity—principles that resonate deeply with us as an organization.”

Maybank Philippines’ first Islamic Banking Unit opened in Zamboanga in August 2024. Four additional units will open this year: one in Mindanao (Davao), two in Metro Manila (Greenhills and Bonifacio Global City), and one in the Visayas (Cebu).
