The Malasimbo Music, Arts, and Kids Festival, one of the Philippines’ most iconic cultural events, returns on March 8, 2025, with a fresh twist. For the first time, the festival will take place at the historic Puerta Real Gardens in Intramuros, Manila. This exciting move marks a new partnership with Intramuros Administration, blending the festival’s vibrant energy with the storied charm of one of the country’s most treasured heritage sites.

A Historic Setting Meets Modern Creativity

Intramuros, known for its Spanish-era architecture and cultural significance, provides an inspiring backdrop for this year’s festival. The collaboration between Malasimbo and Intramuros Administration highlights a shared commitment to celebrating Filipino heritage while promoting cultural tourism. Guests can expect an immersive experience where history meets contemporary art and music in perfect harmony.

A Stellar Lineup

The festival boasts an impressive lineup of artists across multiple genres:

Main Stage Performers: Nai Palm (Hiatus Kaiyote), François K, Mike Love, DJ Shortkut, Selah Dub Warriors, La Crema, Brigada, Morobeats, John Type, Gundamfunk, Laneous, Tommy Sexton & The Suggestions, and Orange Juice Asia.

Silent Disco DJs: Sky Dominique, Flava Matikz, Ezzrei, J-Nice, Antonne, Polo Dino Peebs, Salamangka, JP Sacaben, and Marga Chi.

Complementing the music are mesmerizing art installations by celebrated visual artists such as Agnes Arellano, Billy Bonnevie, Levi Cruz, Olivia d’Aboville, Cherry Fulo, Hohana, Veronica Iberreta, Indie Green Culture Family, King Agus Loedin, Bianca Natola, Marco Santos, and Troy Silvestre.

Kids’ Village: A Creative Wonderland

This year’s festival introduces the Kids’ Village—a dedicated space for children to explore creativity and nature through hands-on workshops and activities. Highlights include:

  • Sticker Workshop with Camille Salazar: Kids create personalized stickers.
  • Nature Weaving by Cherry Fulo: Crafting unique pieces from natural materials and colorful yarns.
  • Crochet Workshop by Hohana: Children learn to make mandalas or dream catchers.
  • Painting Workshop with Jeona Zoleta: Free expression on a giant canvas.
  • Drum Workshop by Billy Bonnevie and Jose Dufourt: An introduction to percussion techniques.
  • Balance Bike Tracks with Bambike: A fun biking experience for toddlers and young kids.

Mindful activities include Poi & Hoop Workshops by Luisa Jimenez and Yoga Workshops by Steve Manzano. Science enthusiasts can join Illac Diaz’s Liter of Light workshop to assemble solar-powered lights using sustainable materials. Gardening sessions led by Bea Macalino and Creative Healing workshops by Indie Green Culture Family round out the offerings.
