Makati Mayor and senatorial candidate Abby Binay has pledged to promote better preventive healthcare programs aimed at improving the quality of life for Filipinos, regardless of their socio-economic status.
“I will advocate for better preventive healthcare at the Senate. I believe preventive healthcare is more important because it costs much less than treating a more serious illness,” Binay stated.
Binay emphasized the need for Congress to prioritize funding for preventive healthcare initiatives and the modernization of public health facilities nationwide.
“We must prioritize budgetary allocations for additional doctors and primary care facilities that can provide free services for all citizens, even those in far-flung communities,” she said.
She believes that accessible, well-equipped barangay health centers will encourage people to seek routine checkups and medical assistance promptly.
“With free consultation, laboratory and diagnostic services, and medicines, citizens won’t hesitate to consult a doctor whether they have symptoms or not,” she noted.
Binay’s focus on preventive healthcare is part of her broader health program that includes free maintenance medicines for seniors and the underprivileged, as well as free dialysis and chemotherapy treatments.
