J&J backs DOH campaign
To help drive the success of BIDA Solusyon Plus sa COVID-19 education campaign of the Department of Health, Johnson & Johnson (Philippines) Inc. mobilized health workers to reach over 20,000 households in the National Capital Region.
“Each one of us has an important role to play in beating COVID-19,” said the head of Medical Affairs of Johnson & Johnson (Philippines), Inc., Dr. Erwin Benedicto. “Even the simple act of always wearing a mask and observing proper social physical distancing when out in public can save thousands of lives.”
BIDA Solusyon Plus encourages Filipino families to take an active role in combating the virus on a daily basis. It promotes the constant practice of minimum health standards among families nationwide to help cut COVID-19 transmission down by up to 90 percent.
Highest conferment from ICD
Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala was inducted honorary fellow by the Institute of Corporate Directors on Wednesday for his “lifelong commitment to promoting the highest standards of governance among Philippine corporations.”
“JAZA has shown the light to all the governance principles with their associated best practices demanded by the imperative of attaining the aspirations of Filipinos under Dream Philippines by 2040. We are gathered here this morning to say: we wish to be guided by such light, and by the lifelong example Mr. Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala has been giving us,” said Dr. Jesus Estanislao, ICD founder and chairman emeritus.
The honorary fellow is the highest conferment that the ICD gives. It is bestowed by the ICD Board to distinguished personalities, in recognition of their significant contributions to corporate governance advocacy.
Ayala has two out of five honorary fellows in ICD. Zobel is joined by Antonino Aquino, former president and CEO of Ayala Land. Aquino is a director of ALI since April 2009 and Manila Water Company since 1998. The other three ICD honorary fellows are Jose L. Cuisia Jr., Dr. Cesar Saldaña, and former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor Amando Tetangco Jr.
In his remarks, Zobel vowed to continue implementing and promoting the highest standard of governance across the Ayala group. Now more than ever, Zobel added, private companies play a huge role in building a more equitable and truly progressive capitalist system for the greater good.
Values formation amid a pandemic
City Savings Bank, Inc. (CitySavings) is helping to revitalize character-building and values formation programs in schools with the launch of its National Economic Development and Values Formation webinar series.
The program is designed to guide the Department of Education’s (DepEd) public schools in revitalizing character education programs with a focus on values and virtues that will contribute to economic recovery.
CitySavings partnered with the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), a leading institution of higher learning in the Philippines with pioneering programs for educators in values formation for the training delivery of this engagement.
A total of 450 principals, assistant principals, guidance counselors, and educators from Luzon regions participated in the three-day webinar, which also focused on the important roles of school authorities in exerting every effort of bringing in parents into the highly involved task of values and virtues formation.

All-New Toyota Avanza arriving this March

Free Wi-Fi
The Cebu City Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation has tapped PLDT Enterprise for fast and reliable connectivity to support its free Wi-Fi program in several areas in the city.
According to Cebu City SK Federation President Jessica Resch, the program is in response to the call of constituents for reliable connectivity to support their education and livelihood.
PLDT Enterprise provided enterprise broadband connectivity to the student halls and work stations in 37 barangays in Cebu City.
The SK Federation of Cebu established learning hubs in several barangay halls which are equipped with computers, printer and internet connectivity. These provide study and work spaces to those who do not have connectivity at their own homes.
