From February 10 to 21, 2025, the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) conducted specialized training for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) as part of Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) program. The initiative reflects Japan’s ongoing commitment to enhancing maritime security and fostering regional cooperation.
The JCG’s Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) delivered hands-on technical guidance tailored to PCG investigators and leadership candidates. The training focused on critical operational skills, including crime scene photography and effective arrest techniques—key competencies for law enforcement in maritime environments.
The program highlights Japan’s dedication to supporting the development of professional and resilient coast guard operations in the Philippines. It also aligns with broader regional efforts to uphold safety, security, and rule of law in Southeast Asian waters.
The JCG remains committed to deepening its cooperation with the PCG through continued capacity-building initiatives.
