Insular Life (InLife) executive chair Nina Aguas is one of the featured speakers of a fireside chat on “Women on Board” in celebration of the Women’s Month.
“Women on Board,” which will be held on March 10 at 6 p.m. via Zoom, will take a look at four women corporate directors and their journey to occupying board seats in their respective organizations.
Aguas is the first woman executive chair of InLife. The session will also discuss the next generation of women corporate directors including how diversity in board membership could be achieved with the inclusion of more women in corporate boards.

Sunshine Place offers art and music online classes that will help you enhance your skills and learn new things from the comfort of your home.
A therapy on its own, art classes are beneficial for the development of cognitive functions such as imagination, creativity, motor and analyzing skills. Art lessens depression, anxiety and boredom. Art classes are one of the best ways to relax or relieve stress.
Beth Robles of Playcrafts PH started scrapbooking and card making as a personal hobby and started a page to initially de-stash some items. Since then she has conducted water color, floral painting, and calligraphy workshops using different media such as watercolor, gouache, soft pastels and acrylic at the Sunshine Place.

Esteemed conductor/founder of the renowned UP Singing Ambassadors Dr. Edgardo “Ed” Manguiat is conducting with music and voice lessons for all ages at Sunshine Place online. The group has won winners of 8 Grand Prizes nad 36 First Prizes in 20 international competitions.
Dr. Manguiat has collaborated with 4 National Artists— Lucio San Pedro, Bienvenido Lumbera, Virgilio Almario, and Ryan Cayabyab — either as composer or as lyricist. He was the Head of the New Era University Conducting Department. In 2015, he was conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Music.
The Sunshine Place, a senior recreation center under the Felicidad Tan Sy Foundation, is a venue for adults to live actively, through engaging in recreational classes and age-appropriate physical training programs. PCPPI top taxpayer in Muntinlupa
Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) was recently recognized by the city government of Muntinlupa as one of its ten biggest corporate taxpayers.
Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi awarded a plaque of recognition to PCPPI, citing the company’s “very important role in the local government’s implementation of programs and provision of services.”
PCPPI is the exclusive manufacturer of well-known beverage brands in the Philippines including Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, 7-Up, Mirinda, Gatorade, Sting, Tropicana, Lipton, Mug, Premier, Milkis, and Aquafina.
Best-performing dealers
Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) held the Annual Dealers Conference on February 24 to recognize its best-performing dealers.
Awarded Dealer of the Year was Honda Cars Fairview, followed by Honda Cars Batangas and Honda Cars Marcos Highway. The program is among Honda’s venues to promote standards of excellence in sales and after-sales operations and appreciate the dealers’ efforts in providing top-quality customer experiences.
This year’s Dealer Conference was attended by representatives from 37 Honda Cars dealerships nationwide with HCPI executives, enhanced with a virtual setup to allow the participation of more team members in the awarding ceremony.
RAP stages art show
Pushing for consumer rights through art, the multi-sectoral group Rights Action Philippines (RAP) is mounting an art exhibit titled “Protecting Our Consumer Rights in the State of Pandemic” ongoing until March 12, at the Gallery M, Taft Ave., Pasay City.
The exhibit, featuring more than 80 paintings and sculptures from 49 contemporary artists, depicts the realities that artists and consumers alike are going through in these pandemic times.
RAP has mobilized artists all of whom have been affected adversely by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the artworks include Romualdo Calingo’s “Munting Nakayanan,” Lauren Jascha Tolentino’s “Pang ilang tao kaya?” series which conveys rights to affordable food, a topic relative; Geronimo Sicat-Santos’ “Artificial Flavor” which highlights rights to safer ingredients amid substandard food quality produced by big companies; Marcelo Quezon’s “King of the Road” series and Jojo Garcia’s “Balik Pasada, No to Phaseout” depicts commuters, drivers and transportation rights. It also talks about the series of fuel price hikes.
Also included are Rey Dulay’s “Free Our Mind, It’s Our Choice, We are not Criminals” and Matthius Garcia’s “Usok sa Dilim” portrays smokers and taxpayers’ rights. Mixed media entries such as Eghai Roxas’ “Konsumidor” and Bryan John Gonzales’ “Dues Ko Po” renders the agony of consumers over rising prices of commodities and basic household dues. The unforeseen rise of plantitos and plantitas during the pandemic is depicted by Darrel Nonatos’ “Plantism Bloom.”
Juno Galang’s and Jun Vicaido’s whose works bear the same title “Magsasaka” represents the controversial rights of the Philippine rice sector, which disproportionately affects famers and poor communities.
New campaign jingle
Mekeni Food Corp. unveiled its brand new campaign jingle “My Mekeni.”
The two-minute song showcases #TimplangAtin favorites of the past 35 years.
The brand’s newest campaign jingle features a Filipino family, jovially sharing Mekeni favorites at the dining table.
The catchy, danceable song posted on Mekeni’s Facebook page is complemented with easy-to-follow dance moves.
Earlier this month, Mekeni also launched its new brand packaging for its new product categories–Gold, Specials, GoLite, and Suki Choice. The brand also unveiled its newly renovated factory outlet called Mekeni Marketplace in its hometown, Porac, Pampanga, featuring all their family specialties.
SHEIN supports Save the Children
Global fashion retailer SHEIN partners with Save the Children to support its ongoing humanitarian relief and rehabilitation efforts in Visayas and Mindanao devastated by Typhoon Odette.
SHEIN donated P2 million in cash to provide more than 1,000 children and 500 families with relief and early recovery assistance through education, protection, and livelihood support.
SHEIN donated over 5,700 pieces of clothing to children to replace their clothes that were washed out by the typhoon and as part of the mental health and psychosocial support provided to help restore their confidence and sense of normalcy. SHEIN also joined Save the Children’s Typhoon Odette Response on February 23 and 24, 2022 to distribute clothes to the children in Getafe, Bohol.
SHEIN vows to continue helping Save the Children to support underserved communities and children most impacted by inequality and discrimination.
