At the 61-year-old Sucat manufacturing plant, Mondelēz has made significant strides in sustainability. The facility now sources 100% renewable energy through hydropower, solar panels, and biomass boilers, resulting in a 96% reduction in carbon emissions since 2018. Additionally, the plant has achieved a 19% reduction in water consumption and a 50% decrease in food waste. It also holds certifications for Zero Waste to Landfill and Zero Water Discharge.

Mondelēz International recently completed its flagship sustainability initiative, “Trash Right,” in partnership with Plastic Flamingo and Save Philippine Seas. This program raised awareness about plastic waste among school communities and facilitated collection efforts. As of October 2024, nearly 10 metric tons of plastic waste were collected from 27 public elementary schools in Parañaque City.

Caitlin Punzalan, Corporate and Government Affairs Lead at Mondelēz International, emphasized that sustainability is a shared responsibility. The Trash Right Program not only collects plastic waste but also promotes environmental awareness among youth. As Mondelēz International continues its journey toward eco-friendly practices, this award underscores its commitment to environmental stewardship and leadership in the snacking industry. Through initiatives like Trash Right, the company aims to create a lasting positive impact on both the environment and local communities.
