Holcim,in partnership with One Earth One Ocean through its Circular Explorer project, has facilitated a Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST). The partnership will introduce circular economy concepts to public school students, beginning with pilot schools in Metro Manila.

The initiative will implement circularity modules in school curricula using a toolkit consisting of teachers’ manuals, comic books, and high school workbooks to shift education from linear to circular economy concepts.

Christine Bellen, Project Manager of Circular Explorer, emphasized the alignment with existing educational priorities: “This partnership with ASSIST and the Circular Explorer Project aligns with DepEd’s commitment to integrating sustainability education into our schools. By fostering environmental consciousness among our learners, we are equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to champion a circular economy.”
