Celebrating women

Hershey Philippines is proud to recognize, honor, and uplift women and girls this month through activations in the Philippines and around the world in celebration of International Women’s Day to advance toward gender equity commitments.

This 2022, The Hershey Company’s award-winning #HerSHE campaign, which originated in Brazil in 2020, comes to life in the Philippines and six additional international markets, aimed at making inspiring invisible women visible.

Hershey Philippines has partnered with four women: Malou Perez of the PAWSsion Project, Kate Alvarez of SOS Philippines, Sabrina Tamayo of Project SMILE, and Fredeswinda Gaspar Samonte of the PGH Cancer Survivors Organization, to highlight their stories and represent women who are still overlooked and dismissed, with their achievements remaining unrecognized.

Drawing on the strength of “SHE,” Hershey Philippines is doing a limited-edition packaging sleeve of its 40g Bars, making the products a canvas to showcase the chosen unsung “SHEroes.” The packaging sleeves come in four different artworks, highlighting the journeys and the exceptional work these women do in the Philippine community.

Women sellers on Shopee

Shopee pays tribute to three women sellers as the country celebrates International Women’s Day.

Shine de Luna and Anjelica Tullao, both started with zero ratings and zero items sold when they went online while Emerald Sin shifted online to cater to her clients going home to their provinces.

All three persevered and eventually built strong online businesses.

For De Luna, her business became a channel of blessing to the few workers she employed.

Both Sin and Tullao focused on how to market their products effectively. The former branched out and became a direct manufacturer, hiring local seamstresses to produce high-quality fashion products, while Tullao maximized the in-app features of Shopee to improve customer trust and retention.

Shopee is staging the 3.15 International Women’s Day Sale on March 8 where users can look forward to 90 percent off on select categories like lifestyle, fashion, and many more. F

Safeguard supports WinS

Procter & Gamble (P&G)’s Safeguard, in partnership with Manila Water Foundation (MWF) donated P70 million to build handwashing facilities in all 285 Metro Manila schools that do not meet the DepEd Wash in Schools (WinS) hand hygiene ratings. By doing so, these public schools will be meeting DepEd’s minimum star rating in WinS Program, enabling the schools to apply for reopening.

Handwashing facility under construction

The DepEd WinS Program is a 3-star rating system developed in 2016 to rate public schools in the areas of Safe Drinking Water, Gender Segregated Toilets, Group Handwashing Facilities with Soap, Daily Group Handwashing Facilities, and Access to Sanitary Pads.

Through a pre-planning session, Safeguard was able to identify that the handwashing areas scored the lowest across the board, with Metro Manila surprisingly as one of the key drivers of the rating.

This partnership with DepEd and MWF encourages students and teachers to “practice good hygiene habits that will protect them from disease-causing germs and viruses while they are in school.” She also went on to say that everyone involved in this project is looking forward to “seeing the outcome of this project, and the health, and the good that we can do in the many schools in the community.”
