Hedcor, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation specializing in renewable energy, has provided P3.2 million in community shares and Energy Regulations No. 1-94 (ER 1-94) funds to the municipality of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
The funds will be used for key projects, including expanding healthcare services to remote barangays, enhancing early childhood education, and improving safety with additional solar street lights.
The contribution includes P1.59 million in community shares and P1.63 million in ER 1-94 funds, derived from the operation of Hedcor’s two hydropower plants in Manolo Fortich from July to December 2023.
ER 1-94 is a Philippine government policy designed to ensure that communities hosting power plants receive a fair share of the profits, specifically one centavo per kilowatt-hour (P0.01/kWh) generated.
Mayor Rogelio Quiño expressed gratitude, stating, “We sincerely thank the Hedcor family for this significant support. Your assistance helps us realize our dream of benefiting our community, especially those in need.”
At the 107th Charter Day celebration of Manolo Fortich, the local government honored Hedcor as one of its top taxpayers for the fiscal year 2023, recognizing its support for municipal programs.
Hedcor president and chief executive officer Rolando Pacquiao remarked, “We are pleased to support Manolo Fortich in its efforts to enhance community life. Our goals align with promoting sustainable growth and making a positive impact on residents’ lives.”
