Grab has been offering its top-performing driver-partners free life insurance policies since 2016, while MOVE IT has integrated the same rider-support initiative in 2023
Grab Philippines and motorcycle taxi platform MOVE IT have partnered with AXA Philippines and PhilPacific Insurance Brokers & Managers, Inc. (Philinsure) to provide enhanced social protection for driver-partners, reinforcing the platforms’ commitment to partner welfare.
The collaboration offers free life insurance policies to top-performing driver-, delivery- and rider-partners, complementing existing insurance coverage provided during ride bookings and deliveries.
This initiative, a key component of the Ka-Grab Rewards and Ka-MOVE IT Rewards programs, provides financial security for participants and their families. By offering healthcare access and insurance policies similar to formal employment benefits, Grab and MOVE IT are establishing new standards for gig economy workers.
“We believe the hardworking individuals who move our cities forward deserve more than just livelihood — they deserve security, protection, and peace of mind,” said Grab Philippines Country Head Ronald Roda. “Through this partnership, we’re strengthening the gig economy by ensuring our driver-partners receive fair recognition while having protections that help them navigate life’s uncertainties.”
Grab Philippines pioneered free life insurance for top-performing partners in 2016, while MOVE IT launched similar support through Ka-MOVE IT Rewards in 2023.
Catherine Lorenzo, a MOVE IT rider-partner and solo parent, emphasized the program’s importance: “As a solo parent, it’s vital that we not only earn enough but also have financial protection for ourselves and our families when facing unfortunate road incidents.“
The partnership provides comprehensive coverage for tens of thousands of top performers with insurance policies valued up to PHP1 million, covering life insurance, accidental insurance, disability coverage, and terminal illness.
AXA Philippines CEO Ayman Kandil said, “We believe financial protection should be accessible to everyone, especially hardworking Grab and MOVE IT driver-partners. Through this partnership, we’re empowering individuals with security and confidence to build better futures.”
