Globe empowers employees, customers for #GlobeOfGood
Volunteerism has been a key part of Globe’s corporate culture through its various employee engagement programs. The company encourages its employees and customers to actively support community engagement programs this International Volunteer Day (IVD).
IVD, as mandated by the United Nations General Assembly, is an annual celebration marked every December 5 and is viewed as a chance for volunteers and organizations to share knowledge and promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, government authorities, and the private sector.
Globe embeds the spirit of bayanihan or “civic unity and cooperation” in its corporate culture through the Volunteer Time-Off (VTO) program – a benefit that allows employees to volunteer at least once a year in their chosen advocacy or community.
The company has opened numerous channels for its employees and stakeholders to share their time, talents, and resources. Globe pivoted efforts by promoting digital volunteerism through fundraising using digital platforms such as GCash and Globe Rewards.
Currently, Globe is holding another internal fundraising campaign called The Purpose Tree, which supports hunger alleviation and livelihood initiatives of the Ayala Foundation and its partners under the #BrigadangAyala: Ka-Akay Program. The program aims to assist 10,000 families of displaced workers in the National Capital Region.
This December, the #ForFutureHeroes program is opening donations through Globe Rewards via the new GlobeOne app. Globe Platinum hopes to expand its reach to other education-focused advocacies such as the Ayala Foundation, Teach for the Philippines, and the Hero Foundation.
Globe and TM customers can donate their Rewards points to various advocacies through the new GlobeOne app.
Alfamart partners with Manila Catering for new Alfa Freeze frozen snacks
Alfamart, the first and only Super Minimart chain in the Philippines, in partnership with the Manila Catering Corporation (MCC) recently launched Alfa Freeze, a line of frozen snacks exclusively available in Alfamart branches.
Alfa Freeze’s pioneer products are Frozen Choco Banana, which consists of saba or a sweet plantain dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with marshmallows; Frozen Ube Banana, which is saba dipped in ube chocolate and pinipig; Frozen Strawberry Banana, which is saba dipped in strawberry chocolate and topped with rainbow sprinkles; and Frozen Cookies and Cream Banana, which is saba dipped in cookies and cream chocolate, speckled with chocolate cookie chunks.
The product was made possible through a collaboration with the MCC, one of the premier caterers in the country. The family-run business, owned by the Baron family, has a 32 year legacy and has catered for thousands of private events and provided food for institutional partners and airport lounges.
MCC also credited Alfamart as their “saving grace” during the pandemic. The catering industry was one of the most affected by the continued quarantines. “They gave us an opportunity to start a new partnership despite the pandemic and all the lockdowns,” Baron said. “They also gave us a head start to focus on food manufacturing, by giving us the opportunities to develop more products for them and innovating together as a team,” he concluded.
Alfamart currently has over 1100 branches, located mostly in Central and Southern Luzon.
