Manila will host POWERTRENDS 2025: The Energy Transition Showdown – Decrypting Risks and Rivalries in the Shifting Power Map on October 2-3, 2025 at New World Makati Hotel.
Organized by Leverage International (Consultants), Inc., with the Department of Energy and supporting organizations, the conference brings together policymakers, regulators, business executives, and innovators addressing urgent power sector challenges amid geopolitical shifts and accelerating clean energy transition.
“This year’s forum could not come at a more critical moment,” organizers noted, citing rising global energy demand, volatile fossil fuel markets, and the Philippines’ transition to cleaner energy sources. “POWERTRENDS has always been about foresight and solutions, and this year’s discussions are more urgent than ever.”
Day 1: Critical Risks
Opening day features messages from the Secretary of Energy and Swedish Ambassador Anna Ferry, plus keynote insights from Agamoni Ghosh (S&P Global Commodity Insights) on APAC carbon pricing. ERC Executive Director Nancy Aurora Q. Fajardo will present regulatory reform under “Rules, Risks, and the Road Ahead.”


Sessions address “In a New Era of Unpredictability,” including energy demand expansion led by DOE’s Michael O. Sinocruz. Ruth Yu-Owen (Management Association of the Philippines) moderates panels featuring the Asian PV Industry Association, the Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance, Wind Energy Developers Association, Renewable Energy Association of the Philippines, and Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Energy.
Forward-looking discussions feature Undersecretary Mylene C. Capongcol (DOE), Ronald Acio (GHD), Alexander Ablaza (PE2), Marc Louis L. Olap (DOE), and Edmund Araga (Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines).

Day 2: Finance and Innovation
J.V. Emmanuel “Jocot” De Dios (Manila Water) opens addressing the water-energy nexus. A Presidents and CEOs Panel features leaders from BDO Capital, BPI Capital, Securities and Exchange Commission, ING, and Green Tiger Markets exploring green finance.
Energy 4.0 discussions highlight digitalization, culminating in Philippine innovations including the Retail Aggregation Program, floating solar developments, and the country’s largest wind turbine project.
