Fleet of Hope
Que Rica, a Bicolano food brand that works directly with local producers, re-established last year the Fleet of Hope program to become its livelihood rehabilitation and recovery program.
Fleet of Hope aims to provide motorized boats to affected Bicolano fishermen.
To raise funds to buy these motorized boats, Fleet of Hope partnered with BIGGS and local on-ground organizations like A-PAD Philippines and Hayag PH. Through their help, they were also able to distribute aid to over 1,000 families in the Bicol region.
Fleet of Hope encouraged other organizations to join the initiative such as UniOil, the BPI Foundation, Wilcon Depot and GCash.
Fleet of Hope has now raised over P6 million and has donated 125 boats.
Cebu Pacific transports more COVID-19 vaccines
Cebu Pacific continues to safely fly life-saving COVID-19 vaccines to assist in the country’s distribution program. From April 6 to 9, CEB flew about 77,800 doses to six cities in the Philippines. The carrier flew vaccines to Bacolod on April 6, to Zamboanga, Tacloban, and Cotabato on April 7, to Puerto Princesa on April 8, and to Tuguegarao earlier today.
CEB delivered around 53,000 doses to Zamboanga and Tuguegarao last month. This week’s batch of consecutive shipments comprises of 7,200 doses to Bacolod, 14,400 doses each to Tacloban and Zamboanga, 34,800 doses to Cotabato, 1,000 doses to Puerto Princesa, and 6,000 doses to Tuguegarao.
All vaccines upon receipt at the CEB Cargo Warehouse were kept in a refrigerated storage container, complete with cooling systems to ensure that the condition of the vaccines is preserved up until arrival at the designated destinations.
To date, CEB has flown a total of 130,800 doses across the Philippines since March 2021.
SMC looking to train youth in Boystown for technical jobs
San Miguel Corp. (SMC), through packaging subsidiary San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corp. (SMYPC), is looking to train underprivileged youth for technical jobs.
SMC has committed to continue helping indigent students in the care of the Sisters of Mary Schools — Adlas Inc. (Boystown) in Silang, Cavite following SMYPC’s donation of manufacturing equipment and renovation of the school’s mechanical workshop.
The renovated workshop now houses a new and improved classroom, a metal crafting facility, and an area for the equipment.
More than 500 students under the school’s one-year Technical and Vocational Education and Training program will be making use of the upgraded facilities this school year.
ActivAsia pivots
ActivAsia, an omnichannel brand solutions company, has pivoted its operations towards upskilling its people and sharpening its services.

Marikina goes cashless with PayMaya
The City Government of Marikina has tapped digital financial services leader PayMaya to roll out contactless payments for real property and other business taxes within the city.
Using PayMaya’s payment platform, residents and businesses can now pay for their city government fees online from the safety of their own homes. All they have to do is log-in to Marikina’s online portal powered by PayMaya Checkout and pay using any credit, debit, or prepaid card as well as their PayMaya wallet. This initiative is in collaboration with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
Marikina City is the latest in over 60 national agencies and local units that have already embraced cashless solutions powered by PayMaya, which includes cashless payments acceptance as well as disbursement solutions.

Big wins for NutriAsia
NutriAsia earned impressive wins in the recent 18th Philippine Quill Awards for various marketing campaigns and corporate initiatives in 2020.
The company won three Excellence Awards and one Merit Award in the online ceremony last March 25 by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines.
NutriAsia’s Excellence Awards went to the Locally Superfruits and Locally #ImmUNITY campaigns, as well as the Bring Your Own Bote (BYOB) Zero-Waste initiative.

World Vision holds CSR Summit in Cebu
World Vision mounted the virtual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Summit in Cebu, participated by top business leaders from the region.
In May 2020, Cebu City officially recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country.
To help the country in its battle against this global health crisis, companies came up with CSR programs to support the most vulnerable children and communities during this challenging period. These initiatives aim to improve health facilities, support the frontliners, and provide food and financial assistance to affected communities.

Associate Justice Singh is first female MBFI professorial chair in law
The Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) and Philippine Judicial Academy (PhilJA) conferred this year’s Metrobank Foundation Professorial Chair in Law to Court of Appeals Associate Justice Maria Filomena D. Singh during the 17th Metrobank Foundation Professorial Chair on March 5, 2021 at the Supreme Court En Banc Session Hall, City of Manila. She is the first-ever female chairholder in the program’s 19-year history.
Associate Justice Singh presented a paper entitled “Wielding the Sword: The Role of Judicial Education in the Administration of Justice.” She highlighted in her lecture the crucial role of judicial education and training in the swift and efficient delivery of justice.
MBFI President Aniceto Sobrepeña reiterated the shared hope of the participating institutions.
A joint undertaking between MBFI and PhilJA, the professorial chair seeks to promote capacity-building and excellence in the judiciary and legal education through the delivery of timely and comprehensive discourses by seasoned legal practitioners.
