Filinvest City’s Carless Sundays expands for a healthier community

For 11 years, Filinvest City’s Carless Sundays has transformed busy streets into recreation spaces, proving urban life and open spaces can coexist. This year, the movement grows with expanded routes giving the community more room to connect.

Major roads within the Garden City of the Metro South are closed to vehicles every Sunday from 5:00 am to 9:00 am. The expanded route now includes Filinvest Avenue, Corporate Avenue, Commerce Avenue, Parkway Avenue, Promenade Street, ASEAN Drive, and Spectrum B and C, forming a loop around Central Park.

This creates more space for walking, jogging, biking, and enjoying traffic-free mornings. The initiative welcomes skateboards, rollerblades, and casual recreation in a laid-back weekend atmosphere.

Launched in 2013, Carless Sundays originally covered single lanes on four main avenues. After COVID-19 restrictions and construction adjustments between 2019 and 2024, this year’s expansion provides participants with a broader, more connected experience.

“Filinvest City has always been about creating a living, breathing city—one where people can thrive and truly connect with their surroundings,” said Don Ubaldo, Head of Filinvest Townships. “Carless Sundays is our way of giving back to the community, offering safe and open spaces where people can walk, run, bike, and simply enjoy the city. As we expand the routes this 2025, we invite everyone to take part in this movement and experience the Garden City of the Metro South in a whole new way.

The event offers more than exercise opportunities. Participants can join Zumba sessions and exercise classes, rent bikes, relax at IKEA Vibe Park, or visit The Book Stop Project, a pop-up library along the route.

This weekly gathering strengthens community bonds while supporting Filinvest City’s environmental goals by reducing vehicular emissions. The initiative aligns with the city’s sustainability commitment, demonstrated by achievements including LEED Gold Certification for Neighborhood Development and a 3-Star BERDE Rating—making it the first and only CBD in the Philippines with this distinction.

Whether you’re a dedicated runner, casual walker, or someone seeking a relaxing Sunday morning, Carless Sundays welcomes everyone to explore streets free from traffic and full of community spirit.
