The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the University of the Philippines (UP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Monday for a housing project under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and UP President Angelo Jimenez formalized the agreement during a ceremony at the DHSUD Central Office, followed by an inspection of the proposed project site in UP Diliman.
The MOU signifies UP’s commitment to participate in the 4PH housing initiative. The DHSUD will facilitate the construction of a 4PH building on land designated by UP for the housing of qualified faculty and staff. Additionally, the department will provide end-user interest subsidies for eligible beneficiaries within the university.
Secretary Acuzar highlighted that this partnership aims to provide decent and affordable housing within sustainable communities, benefiting UP constituents. He emphasized the collaborative effort between DHSUD and UP management to achieve this goal.
The collaboration between DHSUD and UP reflects a commitment to addressing housing needs through innovative solutions. The 4PH program aims to provide affordable shelter while fostering community development.
As this project progresses, both organizations will work closely to ensure its successful implementation, contributing to the overall mission of improving living standards for faculty and staff at UP.
This partnership not only underscores the importance of collaboration in achieving housing goals but also reinforces the government’s dedication to providing quality living spaces for all Filipinos.
