DBP, Tuguegarao LGU sign loan pact for development projects

State-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), the the fifth largest bank in the country in terms of assets, has granted a new P311.8-million term loan to the local government unit (LGU) of Tuguegarao City to bankroll public infrastructure and agriculture productivity enhancement projects in the area, a top official said.

DBP President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel G. Herbosa said the loan was extended under the Assistance for Economic and Social Development for LGUs Financing Program — Bayanihan Interest Subsidy Fund and would be used to finance the construction of a core shelter housing project, drainage systems, an evacuation center, road concreting as well as the acquisition of agricultural equipment, among others.

DBP provides credit support to four strategic sectors of the economy — infrastructure and logistics; micro, small and medium enterprises; environment; social services and community development.

Tuguegarao is a third-class component city and the capital of Cagayan Province. The city is recognized as a regional primary growth center and serves as a springboard for economic activities within the Cagayan Valley, and in the bordering municipalities of the Ilocos Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Herbosa said DBP has been a development partner of LGU Tuguegarao City since 2008 and has granted two-term loan facilities amounting to P120-million in 2017 and P600-million in 2018, which were used for projects on education, public works, and solid waste management.

Security Bank expands

Security Bank continues to open and renovate sites nationwide. Two branches were recently relocated in Zambales, one in Subic and one in Olongapo.

The two branches were relocated to provide the public with better access to Security Bank’s in-branch services in convenient and high foot traffic areas. The Subic Bay Branch has moved to the ground floor of the Optima Building while the Olongapo Branch has moved to the ground floor of the C&C Business Center.

Energy literacy lecture series to benefit 100 ambassadors nationwide

Citicore Power, Inc. intensified its information and education campaign by reaching out to the members of the media and the online community to help educate the public on the role of renewable energy in achieving carbon neutrality.

Citicore Renewable Energy Corp., the energy-producing arm of Citicore, conducted Energy 101 for media practitioners, vloggers and bloggers last November 16 entitled “The Citizen’s Corener Energy Literacy”. The webinar aims to discuss everything about energy — how it is connected to our lives, how people use it differently all around the world, and how we can transform our relationship with it to transition to more sustainable and efficient energy systems, without compromising the environment and agriculture.

The webinar series will run until March of next year, which plans to include students and the teaching community in its upcoming sessions as among its targeted 100 individuals as ambassadors.
