Grab Philippines has awarded full-ride scholarships to six exceptional college freshmen through its GrabScholar program, continuing its commitment to supporting education during the holiday season. This announcement was made on December 20, 2024, as part of Grab’s initiative to empower the next generation of leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Business.
The scholarship recipients represent diverse regions across the Philippines and will receive comprehensive packages that cover tuition fees, a monthly stipend for essential expenses such as dormitory accommodations and daily needs, and an annual allowance for school supplies. Additionally, the program offers an internship opportunity with Grab Philippines to help scholars gain valuable experience in their chosen fields.
Among the recipients are:
- Chloe Cipriano: A Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student at PHINMA Saint Jude College Manila, Chloe aims to become a cybersecurity expert or software developer. The scholarship significantly eases her family’s financial burden.
- Genille Gonzales: Enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Major in Marketing Management at National University – Fairview, Genille aspires to work in public service. She is inspired by her aunt and is committed to supporting her family.
- Knash Alsonado: A BS Legal Management student at the University of the East, Knash plans to pursue law school. The scholarship alleviates financial strain on her family, allowing her to focus on her studies.
These scholars have demonstrated resilience in overcoming personal and financial challenges to excel academically. The GrabScholar program aims to provide educational opportunities for deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds, ensuring they can concentrate on their studies without financial worries.
Grab Philippines Country Head Ronald Roda welcomed the new GrabScholars and their families, congratulating them on their achievements. He emphasized that the program represents not just financial aid but an investment in future leaders who will make a positive impact on society.
This year’s batch of GrabScholars brings the total number of beneficiaries to 18. In addition to full-ride scholarships, the program has also provided bursary support for 300 K-12 students and career acceleration pathways for 150 aspiring Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) professionals.
