Bayanihan flight flies home 353 OFWs

Cebu Pacific on September 8 safely brought home 353 Filipinos from the Middle East through a Bayanihan flight, in response to the government’s call to aid the repatriation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Aside from meal and baggage allowance upgrades, passengers on this flight received gift packs from Universal Robina Corp. (URC).

CEB has brought home more than 2,400 Filipinos from the Middle East via special commercial flights since July 2021.

Cebu Pacific was also scheduled to fly home yesterday, September 12, around 350 OFWs from Beirut and Bahrain to Manila on a repatriation flight chartered by the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Panasonic donates nanoe purifiers to Mandaluyong City

Panasonic, as part of its global campaign to spread the anti-Covid technology of nanoeTMX has recently donated nanoe air purifiers and nanoeTM X generators that have been verified to have inhibitory effects on the novel coronavirus to the City of Mandaluyong for use in City vaccination centers.

The social good initiative was welcomed by no less than Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos and City Health Officer Dr. Alex Sta. Maria last September 3, at the SM Megatrade Hall vaccination site. Panasonic representatives, Masaru Toyota, Panasonic Air-Conditioning Philippines (PACPH) President & CEO, Life Solutions Group Country Head Manager Yosuke Tanaka, and Communication & Product Planning Manager Francis Serrato were present during the turn-over.

Las Piñas achieves 100% covid-19 vaccination rate

The local government of Las Piñas has completed administering the first dose of vaccines to over 425,000 individuals as of Friday, September 3.

Deputy Speaker and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar announced the total number of persons who have had their first dose exceeds the local government’s target population.

“We are happy to have achieved this milestone in our vaccination drive as we work together toward achieving herd immunity,” said Villar.

Villar added an intensive vaccine drive is ongoing to encourage more to get covered in the face of a more transmissible Delta variant.

Las Piñas has administered more than 637,359 jabs to date. They aim to administer more than 800,000 jabs and fully vaccinate the target population by the end of September.

Obesity Prevention Awareness Week webinar

Proclamation No. 162, or the Obesity Prevention Awareness Week, was signed on August 21, 1999 by then President Joseph Estrada. This is observed every first week of September with Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity (PASOO) as the mandated lead agency.

Novo Nordisk Philippines, conducted a media forum with a multi-disciplinary group of key opinion leaders in the field of medicine and health & wellness in observance of Obesity Prevention Awareness Week.

As part of Novo Nordisk Philippines’ the Body of Truth obesity advocacy campaign, the program was designed to shed light on the truth and dangers of obesity as a disease as well as the ways by which Filipinos can come together to stem this silent pandemic even beyond lifestyle changes and exercise.

Experts on this program include the PASOO President  Dra. Mia C. Fojas; radio personality, talk show host and multi-awarded physician Dr. Bles Salvador; life and fitness coaching couple, founders of FITFIL challenge, and former coaches of The Biggest Loser Philippines Jim and Toni Saret.It was moderated by Senior Medical Manager of Novo Nordisk Philippines Dr. Cyrus Q. FREER project

Wells Fargo International Solutions LLC — Philippines partnered with Save the Children Philippines to implement the Financial Resilience for Economic Recovery (FREER) Project to help alleviate the hardships faced by families living in poverty and whose livelihoods were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and community quarantines.

The FREER Project aims to enable more than 1,850 people and 370 beneficiaries in Malabon, to build their financial resources in the form of savings, and provide access to sustainable financial services to support their livelihood recovery through provision of capital assistance.

Dialysis centers expansion

Braun Dialysis Center Southwoods Branch launched their state-of-the-art facilities and equipment at the ground floor of Southwoods Mall, Brgy. San Francisco, Southwoods City, Laguna.

It comprises 17 hemodialysis machines that can serve up to 100 patients. This branch also has HDF machines, a treatment modality that further enhances blood purification than regular dialysis.

Adding to the company’s roster of new dialysis clinics is the recently inaugurated B. Braun Dialysis Binmaley Branch in San Isidro, Pangasinan. With the additional 11 hemodialysis machines, the center can now cater to 70 patients.

The company has expanded its services to San Jose, Occidental Mindoro with 14 hemodialysis machines that can provide treatments up to 80 patients.

Another hemodialysis center in Cagayan United Doctors Medical Center in Tuguegarao was inaugurated. Boasting its 15 stations that can accept up to 90 patients, this is the second B. Braun Avitum Philippines center in Tuguegarao.
