Marianne Agutaya, 50, of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, has transformed years of struggle into entrepreneurial success with MoreDan Coffee—a family business now operating two thriving branches, supported by financing from CARD Bank, Inc.

Marianne’s journey began at 16 when she started a barbecue business while raising a child. Unable to complete her college degree, she worked tirelessly to support her family. After separating from her first husband, she partnered with Ismael, whose cooking skills complemented her business acumen. Together, they launched a home-based food business, preparing rice meals for schools, companies, and events.

In 2023, Marianne’s daughter Moreen, 30, and son-in-law Daniel officially established MoreDan Coffee—named after the couple. The café combines Marianne’s popular rice meals with Moreen’s specialty waffles, cakes, and drinks.

Moreen, a Business Administration graduate, has been a CARD Bank client for over 10 years, responsibly managing loans to expand the business. Inspired by her daughter, Marianne also became a client, securing a ₱30,000 loan reinvested into the café and her children’s education.

Despite market competition and inflation, the family maintained affordable prices and quality service, earning loyal customers—from students to corporate employees placing advance orders.

Today, MoreDan Coffee operates two branches: one in Bulusan managed by Moreen and Daniel, and another in Sta. Maria Village run by Marianne. Both accept bulk and advance orders via Facebook pages @MoreDan Coffee SMV and @MoreDan Coffee-Bulusan.

Marianne now dreams of converting their rooftop into an air-conditioned VIP dining space.

“Venturing into business is no easy feat. You will face countless challenges, but with passion and perseverance, anything is possible,” Marianne shares.
