Cagdianao Mining acquires P23.5M emergency-response vehicles for community use
Cagdianao Mining Corp. (CMC), a subsidiary of Nickel Asia Corp. (NAC), has acquired transportation units worth P19.8M and an ambulance unit worth P3.7M to improve the mining company’s emergency response and logistics capability to serve employees and residents of the communities especially in this time of COVID-19.
Teodoro Alipayo of the Incident Command Post of the Municipality of Cagdianao, said CMC’s response vehicles serve emergency calls from the residents as well as locals needing to be picked up from the San Jose port and transported to their respective quarantine areas.
Part of CMC’s emergency-response fleet are two units of 40-seater mini buses costing PHP 9.8-million and the “CMC Seaborne Barracuda,” a P10-Million watercraft to ferry employees and community residents to any point in Dinagat Islands. Barangay officials also use these buses for government-related events and activities around the island.
Once the company completes the required permits from MARINA, the Seaborne Barracuda can travel to other provinces for both operational and emergency purposes.
Franklin Jardeleza, CMC Admin Manager, said the emergency-response vehicles are being heavily utilized for the LGU’s requests on emergency cases.
BDO American Express Virtual Card launched

Cebu Pacific transports vaccines
Cebu Pacific safely hand-carried vaccine doses inflight last July 27 and 29.
Dumaguete City was the first to receive this type of shipment, followed by General Santos.
This was made possible through the assistance and approval of the Office for Transportation Security coordinated through Cebu Pacific as requested by Reliance United, the Gokongwei Group’s official partner for its employee vaccination program.
This type of special courier service has to be pre-arranged and is ideal for small shipments of vaccines, while large volumes will continue to be accommodated as cargo in the belly of the aircraft.
These vaccines were stored in insulated bags with ice blocks to ensure its potency and efficacy are maintained throughout the duration of the flight. All bags were securely placed on a passenger seat beside its caretakers.
Accenture teams with NGOs
Accenture has teamed up with Caritas Manila, Philippine Business Social Progress (PBSP) and Philippines Business for Education (PBEd) in launching various initiatives that aim to help alleviate hunger and uplift health and well-being, livelihood and education of communities.

Accenture in the Philippines focused on help in three key areas. Caritas Manila, which is overseeing the distribution of gift vouchers to over 180,000 Filipino families nationwide to assist them in their everyday essentials and a six-month feeding program for 5,000 malnourished children in communities in the National Capital Region and nearby cities or NCR Plus.
PBSP aims to provide livelihood training and assistance to about 14,000 families and close to 1,300 individuals through its programs such as Mask4All, Super Carinderia, and Kada-Uno:The Hunger Program Hope Fund in selected NCR+ cities and provinces in Visayas and Mindanao.
PBed, for its part, is driving the launch of the Kiddie Learning Train, a volunteer-based community program that aims to teach 1,000 Kinder to Grade 3 public school students and bring them up to speed with Reading, Math and Science curricula.
GMA Network promotions
GMA Network has announced promotions in its executive offices.
Human Resources Development Department (HRDD) Head Gerrome Apolona has been appointed as first vice president (FVP). Apolona’s group is responsible for the efficient management of the Kapuso workforce. Also through HRDD, the Network has instituted a training and development program anchored in valuing employees as the Network’s best asset.
Glenn Allona is now the FVP for Radio Operations Group. As head of operations, Allona develops strategies, implements action plans and manages the day-to-day business of GMA Radio.
Mercedes Macy Sueña has been promoted to VP and head of the Financial Reporting and Services Department. She is mainly responsible for ensuring the Network’s compliance with statutory financial reporting and providing timely and relevant information to management.
Rolando Sanico Jr. has been appointed VP and head of the Group Controllership and Tax Compliance Department. With over two decades of solid experience in GMA Finance, Sanico has headed four divisions of the department across the years where he helped innovate systems and institutionalized several practices that contributed to the Network’s more efficient processes.
Alaska appointments
Alaska Milk Corp. (AMC) announced the appointment of Tarang Gupta as its new managing director effective Aug. 1. He takes the place of Harvey Uong, who has been appointed as senior vice president — Region Asia for AMC’s parent company FrieslandCampina.
In this new role, Gupta leads the Philippine team in ushering in new business opportunities and more optimized ways of working, driving the AMC business to continue strengthening its market position in the dairy industry.
Gupta has 20 years of FMCG experience with over 11 years of experience with FrieslandCampina.
Uong, who hails from the Philippines, will be based out of Singapore and will be overseeing FrieslandCampina’s Consumer Dairy businesses in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and China.

GCash expands to 600 billers
GCash has expanded its network to more than 600 partner billers nationwide, giving users easy access to more utilities, government, loan payments, insurance, real estate, and even school payment transactions.
Currently, GCash is in partnership with a number of key billers that many Filipinos are availing of their services such as Meralco, Meralco Kuryente Load, Maynilad, and Manila Water. GCash also covers electronic payments for telecommunications billers, such as Globe Postpaid, and government billers namely Pag-IBIG, BIR, NBI and SSS-PRN.
With the growing demand, the app has now added to their list of billers for different categories such as loans, schools as well as new regional billers for utilities and cooperatives
