As further stated by BCCP Executive Director/Trustee Chris Nelson, “We’ve been working with the Philippines in terms of food inflation, which is a key factor in the supply, particularly in the export of UK pork. I do say that the atmosphere of foreign investors has improved, I think it can continue with the reduction of further restrictions.”
The F&B industry has continuously witnessed growth noting the activities in the industry in 2023 amounting to around Php 284 billion and the foodservice sector is set to attain a compound annual growth of $20 billion in 2026.
The administration highlighted the role of the industry to promote gastronomy tourism in the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028 which aims to further boost the purchasing power of consumers. Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco has also previously noted that, “Gastronomy tourism is not just about indulging in delicious food; it also has immense economic and cultural benefits for the Asia-Pacific region.”
