Bank of the Philippines Islands (BPI) employees transformed the spirit of bayanihan into action through the BPI Bayan Program, dedicating more than 12,000 volunteer hours to serve local communities in 2024.

The program, run by BPI Foundation (BPIF), embodies the principle “Kasama Lahat sa Pag-Unlad” by enabling over 5,000 employees to create meaningful change for underserved communities nationwide.

Employee volunteers formed Bayan Groups to spearhead projects focused on financial wellness, livelihood opportunities and social upliftment. These initiatives benefit more than 18,000 livelihoods across Metro Manila, Rizal, Bataan, Isabela, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon Province, Palawan, Capiz, Iloilo, Cebu, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Zamboanga, Cagayan, Davao, and General Santos.

“At BPI Foundation, we believe that empowering communities starts from within,” said Carmina Marquez, BPIF Executive Director. “Through the BPI Bayan Program, our employees go beyond their roles as bankers – they become changemakers, dedicating their time and skills to uplift lives. By fostering a culture of volunteerism, we create meaningful and lasting impact, ensuring that no one is left behind on the path to progress.

Volunteers conduct financial education workshops, organize livelihood programs and provide essential resources, bringing BPI’s mission of financial inclusion to life while developing their own leadership and collaboration skills.

The bank continues to champion volunteerism as a vital pillar of its commitment to nation-building. Through the BPI Bayan Program, BPI strives to extend its impact, ensuring more underserved communities benefit from initiatives promoting financial literacy, sustainability and resilience.

By working hand in hand with communities, BPI employees embody the true spirit of bayanihan—a collective effort driving meaningful change toward a more inclusive and empowered Philippines.
