BPI installs bike racks in Makati branches

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is installing bike racks at selected branches in Makati, as part of its push for sustainability and its continuous effort to better address the needs of all its customers.

The project is done in partnership with the Makati Business Club (MBC) and the Embassy of the Netherlands in the Philippines for their Business for Biking program, which aims to bring more active-friendly transport infrastructure and policies to various cities in the country.

For its pilot initiative, the bank has put up bike racks at the BPI Family Savings Bank Building, J.P. Rizal San Miguel, Bel-Air Paseo, and Pasong Tamo Extension — EDSA branches.

Women entrepreneurs at trade fair

The Women’s Business Council of the Philippines (WomenbizPH) is set to conduct a strategic support program to address the needs of the country’s recovering economy while showcasing female-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the forefront from July 29 to 31 at the Event Area, Building A Lower Ground, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City, which will be followed by a virtual exhibit from August 1 to 20.

WomenbizPH, the lead private sector partner of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is offering to assist up to 120 women-owned MSMEs through the Women Strong Network Hybrid Trade Fair to equip them with the necessary skills and tools for business continuity in 2022 and beyond.

The trade fair will seek to promote the products of women entrepreneurs to both the local and global markets.

The program is a collaboration with industry leaders such as logistics company Airspeed, Go Negosyo, and the International Labour Association, among many others, for the three-day event in support of MSMEs in the country towards recovery from the pandemic.

Airspeed, a part of SM Investments Corp.’s portfolio investments, is a known driver of MSME support in the country rooted in the principles of Airspeed chairman and president Rosemarie Rafael, a fellow lady pioneer in the industry.

Experience Kia at BGC

A Kia showroom sporting the fresh and new Kia look has been established within AC Motors Centrale at the Bonifacio Global City.

This new facility is an integral part of the Kia Philippines dealership network which boasts of 41 locations nationwide.

MediCard PH debuts MediCard Talks

HOPE named ‘Best for the World’ among B Corp companies

GenerationHOPE Inc. (Hope), the company behind the Hope In A Bottle brand, has for a fourth straight year been named among the world’s best by a non-profit organization that certifies companies based on how they create value for their employees, local communities and the environment.

B Lab has certified Hope as a “Best for the World in Community” company for 2022.

The bottled water maker, founded by child rights advocate and philanthropist Nanette Medved-Po, ranked in the top 5 percent of over 5,000 companies certified as “B Corp”.

B Corp companies meet the highest standards in terms of social, environmental and legal accountability, public transparency, and a commitment to balance profit and purpose.

Medved-Po said Hope is proud to be part of “this prestigious group of corporate stewards who are ensuring that they meet the high standards of verified performance, accountability and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.”

Celebrating its 10th year in 2022, the company has since expanded its impact areas to include education infrastructure, livelihood programs through agricultural interventions, carbon sequestration projects for smallholder farmers in Mindanao, and, most recently, its Aling Tindera Waste-to-Cash program addressing the plastic pollution crisis.

Hope has built 116 classrooms, benefitting over 20,000 students.  Its agriculture program has distributed over 700,000 coconut seedlings to over 15,000 farmers.

It has also collected over 30 million kilograms of plastic waste with its partners at Plastic Credit Exchange and via its Aling Tindera program.

SarapSustansya cook-off winners

MAGGI and the Nestlé Wellness Campus, in partnership with the Department of Education, successfully concluded the first SarapSustansya Virtual Inter-School Cooking Competition among public high schools in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The teacher-parent-student trio from Manuel Luis Quezon High School – Schools Division of Manila, emerged as the champion team.

The SarapSustansya Virtual Inter-School Cooking Competition aims to promote a balanced diet among public school students while instilling appreciation for cooking as an essential life skill.

This project was made possible by MAGGI and Nestlé Wellness Campus, the flagship health and wellness education program of Nestlé Philippines.

As part of the competition, participating public school students from Grades 7-12, along with their parent and coach-teacher, took inspiration from the MAGGI SarapSustansyaKusinaskwela videos on YouTube, where they learned about meal planning, “palengke” tips and shorter cooking time. They also featured the Go, Grow, Glow food groups following the Pinggang Pinoy recommendations of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute in their entries.

COMCO SEA bags 30 awards

COMCO Southeast Asia received 30 awards and four top award nominations for various projects from the prestigious 19th Philippine Quill Awards of the International Association of Business Communicators.

COMCO SEA was nominated for Agency of the Year and the Top Award in Communication Management for the second season of the Write to Ignite Blogging Project under the ‘Media Relations’ and ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ categories, as well as the Top Award in Communication Training and Education for the Camp COMCO House Wars.

In Division 1 of the awards, centered around Communication Management, COMCO SEA won 19 awards in various projects.The Agency received two awards in Division 3 for Communication Training and Education.

COMCO SEA was also recognized for its excellence in Communication Skills under Division 4, receiving 9 awards for numerous projects.

TELUS PH raises P1.3M

TELUS International Philippines (TIP) recently engaged more than 3,500 team members in the TELUS Days of Giving (TDOG) Virtual Fitness Challenge to raise funds in support of World Vision Development Foundation.

More than 3,500 team members raised funds for the TDOG Virtual Fitness Challenge, participating in either a 360-minute Move Challenge or 42 km Run Challenge, monitoring their exercise activities using a fitness gadget or a mobile fitness app throughout the month of May.

All donations and funds raised through this effort will be used to reproduce self-learning materials and support Brigada Pagbasa, a reading remediation program.

This year, TELUS International team members collectively raised over $40,000, which will be given to the three local charities across the Asia Pacific, including World Vision Development Foundation, China Association of SOS Children’s Villages, and SayTrees Environmental Trust.

MAIN invests in SG-basedinclusive fintech

Manila Angel Investors Network, the largest private investors network in the Philippines, has allocated $150,000 to Singapore-based fintech startup, Jipay.

JiPay is an inclusive financial services platform for migrant domestic workers in Southeast Asia. The startup helps both migrant domestic workers and their employers track household finances through its mobile application.

JiPay’s next step is to offer personal accounts to domestic workers which will allow helpers to receive, save, spend and remit money back to their families all through the JiPay mobile app.

MAIN’s investment of $150,000 is part of the larger $2 million committed capital to potential startups every year of the 119-member angel investors network.

Coins rewards for Globe subscribers
