Boxing and MMA at SM Southmall
The UFC Gym, in partnership with SM Supermalls and SM Game Park, will be showcasing the country’s up-and-coming fighters at Musclecontest Philippines’ ‘King of the Fight 9,’ an exhibition match to be held at the SM Southmall Events Center from June 18 to 19.
The exhibition matches on both days will begin at 1 pm, with 24 boxers set to battle it out on June 18, Saturday; and 24 mixed martial artists to step into the Octagon on June 19, Sunday. Each fight will be composed of three-minute rounds.
Since debuting in 2009, UFC Gym has opened over 150 locations across the US, Australia, Canada, South America, and Asia. The fitness franchise offers a full range of functional fitness classes, group and private MMA training, group fitness, and personal and group dynamic performance-based training fit for all ages and fitness levels. And on June 18, history will be made as SM Supermalls opens its doors to a UFC Gym in the south of Metro Manila.

OCP holds medical mission

Operation Compassion Philippines (OCP) visited Baras, Catanduanes for a medical mission in partnership with GCF-Mercy Ministry, the Philippine National Police, Ando Cua Foundation, the LGU of Baras, and BLGU-Puraran.
The medical mission focused on providing free medical and dental consultations to residents of barangays Puraran, Genitligan, Venticayan, Agban, San Miguel, Paniquihan, and J.M. Alberto. A total of 573 residents benefited from medical services provided by the doctors, while 190 residents received free dental care during the two-day mission that took place from June 2 to 3.
Ex-DPWH chief is new MAP president
Rogelio Singson is the new president of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), the 74th since the group’s inception in 1950.
Singson will finish the remaining term (July 1 to December 31, 2022) of Dr. Alfredo Pascual who has been appointed as secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Mr. Singson is the President and CEO of Metro Pacific Water (MPW). He is also the President of MPW’s subsidiaries, Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corp., Metro Pacific Iloilo Water and Metro Pacific Dumaguete Water Services. He also serves as Director of Laguna Water District Aquatech Resources Corp., Eco-System Technologies International and Manila Water Consortium.
Prior to joining MPW, he served as president and CEO of MERALCO PowerGen Corp. and Light Rail Manila Corp.
He completed a full 6-year term (2010 to 2016) as secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
