BDO Foundation completes rehab of healthcare facilities in Camarines Sur and Bohol

The newly rehabilitated rural health units (RHUs) in the municipalities of Sagñay, Camarines Sur, and Trinidad, Bohol, have recently been turned over by BDO Foundation (BDOF) and are expected to expand accessibility to the medical needs of affected communities.

With these initiatives completed, nearly 40 barangays and over 70,000 people will access primary and maternal care, including consultation, laboratory and dental services, family planning, immunization, pre- and post-natal services, and tuberculosis treatment.

According to the BDO Foundation, the rehabilitation efforts on the RHUs focused on refurbishing and upgrading the facilities and waiting areas, play areas for kids, offices, clinics, consultations rooms, and treatment rooms. These improvements seek to elevate the standard of healthcare delivery and positively impact the lives of individuals relying on RHUs for medical assistance.

To date, the BDO Foundation has already rehabilitated160 RHUs since it started to improve healthcare facilities and access in different communities of the country in 2012.

RELEX Solutions acquires 0ptimity for unified upstream supply chain planning, optimization

RELEX Solution, provider of unified supply chain and retail planning solutions, has announced that it has acquired Optimity, a supply chain planning and optimization provider. The acquisition will bolster the RELEX retail and supply chain platform with daily production planning, optimization, and production scheduling capabilities which are crucial for the end-to-end consumer goods value chain.

Optimity enables customers to make optimal supply chain decisions from strategic levels to detailed production scheduling. Their offerings include demand planning, production planning and scheduling, supply planning, distribution planning, inventory optimization, and S&OP.

The acquisition brings together a highly complementary offering between the two organizations, enabling RELEX to extend and deepen its production planning and supply chain optimization capabilities, such as synchronized daily production planning, optimization and scheduling in the food & beverage and manufacturing sector.

New or expanded capabilities within the RELEX unified retail and supply chain planning platform from Optimity include Production Planning, Production Scheduling, Network Balancing and Distribution Planning, Purchase Planning.

New Kia Deals for the New Year Promo introduces enticing offers for Kia Soluto, Stonic and K2500

Kia Philippines makes owning the reliable Kia Soluto subcompact sedan, the stylish Kia Stonic subcompact crossover, and the versatile Kia K2500 truck easier at the start of 2024 with its New Kia Deals for the New Year promotion.

The new financing offer, which will be available until January 31, is specially crafted to tailor to Kia customers’ needs with innovative ways to own a brand new Kia.

The Kia financing scheme for the new year sees zero-down payment options or up to Php 120,000 cash savings for the Kia Soluto. Free two months of amortization will also be included by the Bank of the Philippine Islands for its 48 to 84-month term period and by RCBC when customers avail of its 60-month term car loan for the subcompact sedan.

Kia customers can also drive home the popular Kia Stonic crossover with an all-in down payment of as little as Php 31,000. They may also benefit from extra cash savings of up to Php 160,000 or a zero down payment option when they purchase a Kia K2500 this January.

Kia Philippines has engaged with a wide array of trusted bank partners, so its customers may avail of an all-in 20% down payment with flexible term periods from 36 to 60 months for the three models. The down payment includes LTO Registration Fee, while select partner banks may cover Chattel Mortgage fees and insurance.

Tetra Pak unveils action-oriented approach towards food systems transformation 

Tetra Pak is launching an integrated approach to drive the transition to more secure, sustainable and resilient food systems, harnessing the company’s leading role in the food processing and packaging industry to effect urgent change. This builds further on the company’s lead in the Global Dairy Processing Task Force, which, as part of the ‘Pathways to Dairy Net Zero’ climate initiative, aims to explore the innovative systems and technologies needed to further drive down greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in dairy processing.

Tetra Pak has identified four key pathways to accelerate food systems transformation. The company has also established roadmaps and measurable targets for each of these pathways, aligning with the critical transitions for food and land transformation proposed by the Food and Land Use Coalition.

The announcement coincides with Tetra Pak’s launch of its white paper, in collaboration with EY parthenon, which examines the key food systems requirements to better sustain both people and the planet by 2040.

GAC Motor formally opens Alabang dealership

GAC MOTOR wrapped up 2023 with a momentous milestone on its dealership expansion front, celebrating the grand inauguration of GAC MOTOR Alabang last December 14. The event took place in the presence of executives from GAC International (China), its local distributor astara Philippines and dealer partner AutoIcon.

MPV models, the M8 and M6 Pro, are set to make their official debut in early 2024. These new Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) are the first installment of six vehicles that the company plans to launch in the coming year.

FCBAI inducts new officers

German Foreign Minister witnesses signing of Skills Development MOU between GPCCI and TESDA

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (GPCCI) affirmed their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish and strengthen cooperation in Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and to implement a long-term cooperation and implementation of Enterprise-Based Training (EBT) programs in the Philippines.

This momentous event was witnessed by the Federal Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Her Excellency Annalena Baerbock during her state visit in the Philippines on January 11.

The MOU served as the next step in the partnership between TESDA and various German entities in developing TVET Programs aimed at making the Philippines as a globally competitive labor force and Germany as an accessible market for foreign workers.

TESDA also signed various memoranda of agreement to bolster the agency’s cooperation with other German entities in the Philippines such as Siemens Inc. and Festo Inc. The ceremony also took part in affirming their cooperation both countries towards skilled labor, migration, and development through a signing of Joint Declaration of Intent by Her Excellency Annalena Baerbock and Hon. Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Migrant Workers.

PLDT, Smart link-up with Makati Medical Center for e-waste collection drive

In line with their continuing thrust to enable localized and community-based electronic waste (e-waste) management efforts, the Philippines’ leading integrated telecommunications network PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) expanded its e-waste advocacy with the launch of an e-waste awareness and collection campaign at the Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed).

The joint campaign promoted, gamified, and incentivized e-waste collection among the hospital’s health care professionals and workforce, encouraging them to properly dispose of their e-waste at the designated collection site within the hospital grounds. The first run held in December 2023 saw active participation with a total of 117 kilos of e-waste items collected which included old mobile phones, beepers, headphones, among others.

In addition, MakatiMed, PLDT and Smart have activated e-waste collection in their retail stores in SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia, SM Baguio and at the PLDT Smart Experience Hubs at the Smart Tower and Ramon Cojuangco Building in Makati City.

The telcos have also been continuously expanding e-waste collection activations and integrating these into in their employee activities, sales, trade marketing, go-to-market engagements, and strategic partnerships with enterprise customers, schools, and commercial establishments.

PLDT, Smart, and MakatiMed are among the group of companies under the leadership of business tycoon Manuel V Pangilinan.
