Baliuag University (BU) marked a transformative milestone in its centenary year with the inauguration of its new College of Law Building last May 30. The ceremony, attended by faculty, administrators, and distinguished legal professionals, underscored the university’s commitment to academic excellence and societal impact.
Former Supreme Court Associate Justice Hon. Francis H. Jardeleza (Ret.) officially opened the College of Law alongside Commissioner Lorenzo R. Reyes of the Legal Education Board. Reverend Monsignor Narciso S. Sampana, P.C., parish priest of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Augustine, Baliwag City, led the building’s blessing.
Building on BU’s established leadership in Nursing, Engineering, Business, Education, IT, and Graduate Education, the College of Law represents a pivotal expansion. President Dr. Patricia B. Lagunda characterized the inauguration as both homage to the university’s heritage and a bold step toward its future.
Atty. Asteya M. Santiago, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, voiced support for the endeavor as crucial for advancing human rights and economic justice. Dean Enrique V. Dela Cruz emphasized the college’s mission to integrate technology and ethics in legal education while nurturing competent, ethical lawyers dedicated to public service.
Commissioner Voltaire G. San Pedro of the Legal Education Board highlighted legal education’s vital role in promoting social justice and making laws more accessible to the public. BU’s leadership reaffirmed their commitment to preparing socially impactful lawyers who can make justice a practical reality for communities.
